I based that more on current performance as he is on a decline year after year

Sure, I get that. But he has huge experience and several recent FA cups as well as all the rest.

*note to self; why on earth am I in AW's corner??!!*

It's known as being sarcastic.

Truth be told without at least a couple of worldies, obviously not Messi, we are not getting to league winning level anytime soon. Our best hope is the FA cup or failing that the League cup. We really don't have the clout financially to outmuscle the current top 3 even with the new stadium.

Would rather he goes Shitty way. No chance of catching them, so it's better 'Pool don't have a strengthener defence.
Well he has gone to Liverpool now so we don't need to concern ourselves with it I would rather the team just finish above them.

I mentioned the FA cup a little while ago and was informed that we should be aiming higher. Realistically, what is a better trophy that we can aim for than the FA cup at this point? Forget the league and the CL is a massive ask. Were we in the EL then possibly but it's such a long, drawn out competition.

Agreed. We need to go for League cup and FA Cup as a start, once we’ve won something we will have belief we can win bigger things like the league and CL.
Obviously we need to aim to win them all but realistically the two domestic cups are our only real chance.

I know that some fans consider top 4 a trophy and obviously qualifying for the CL is important but if anyone thinks that the top players at the club will consider a top 4 finish as a trophy then they are definitely mistaken.

Top players want to play in the Champions League. Top players also want wages the Champions League income helps pay for.

They certainly do and part of staying at Spurs is CL football but they also want to win silverware and they won't consider CL qualification as being equivalent to a trophy even if some fans do.

I'm not so sure that applies to all players. I'd say some would rather have a champions league campaign than a league cup.

Of course but eventually a player like Kane, Alli (admittedly he's done little to earn a move to a bigger club so far this season), Lloris, Vertonghen etc. will want proper silverware.

Agreed.

Players dream of major trophies, league's and CL really.

Not sure the carobona cup qualifies in that bracket lol

Cue being proper. Let's got 5 years back. Who remembers the past five winners of the caribou cup? How many CL and PL winning teams do you remember in the same period?

I hate this question "What do we need to win Titles" we need to show we can win something period, take competitions serious we don't need "oil" money to do that

How can we take the league any more seriously?

1. Higher wage budget.
2. Make the new stadium into a fortress.
3. More attacking squad depth.
4. Poch to figure out a way to get points from big away games.
5. More leadership and game management.
Agreed.

No 3 is for me the key. If we had one more playmaker and 2 more striker/attacking wide men options, it would make all the difference. We could push the defences back, stretch the play, really go for it.

And the crazy thing is that I think it's not that difficult to do.

Barkley would take Dembele's first team spot. That would give us, Barkley, Wanyama, Dier, Winks, Sissoko & Dembele for three positions. Alli, Eriksen and Lamela can all drop back into midfield if need be.

Zaha. I really really like him and have done since before he went to ManUtd. He's strong, direct, can and does take defenders on, doesn't give away the ball easily, happy to strike and can score.

Moussa Dembele. not quite as strong as Zaha but faster.

That would give us, Lamela, Son, Alli, Zaha, Dembele for the 2-3 positions behind Kane, and enough flexibility to rest Kane and play a 3-5-3 with no orthodox striker.

Barkley is unlikely to cost more than £5-10m at most if anything as he's free in 6 months.

Dembele is apparently £20m and Zaha would be £30m+

But we can almost certainly get about £20m back for Sissoko who is proving his worth.

So for around £40m we can bring in three players, all young enough, all experienced and proven in the PL and all needed.
