Them selling Coutinho in january can easily derail their season.

Even if they buy another creative offensive player, (even though i doubt it after the money payed for VVD), he will most likely not be as good as Coutinho for them.
Not exactly the same player, but I imagine Ox is the primary replacement for Coutinho.

They gonna be in for a surprise if they believe the VVD transfer will hinder a fan backlash. Gonna be a riot if they sell him now, really hope this is true :ROFLMAO:

Only thing i can see stopping the deal would be if his kids are enrolled at the local school in Liverpool :ninja:

It'll do a lot of psychological damage, they'll still have Ultrabrite Firminho but they'll be a lot weaker in depth.

And just like clockwork, every time our rivals buy a player we get the same old posts about ambition and competitiveness.

100% agree. Unless we get bought out by an Oil Baron we will never be able to compete with Man City. Eve Chelsea are not on same page ffs.

If Liverpool think that buying one player for 75m is not gping to get them to compete any more than we are at the moment.

Over the past three seasons our mean performance is number 1. Ok we haven't won a trophy yet but no one over the past 3 seasons has competed more than we have.

Perhaps this is the start of a Manchester City dominance for the foreseeablle future. But all the rest of us are on their coat tails.

Should we pay higher wages? No
Do we need to pay higher wages? Probably

How much is Harry worth if we wanted to buy in today's market? How much Toby, Victor, potentially winks and Lamella going forward?

These players are already wearing Spurs shirts.

But we are the most consistent club over past 3 seasons. And I for one think that things will only get better.

Look i said earlier that i wouldnt be in awe of what those 3 clubs do.. Liverpool is closer to us and Arsenal in buying power terms.

They are closer but we still arent in the same league - clearly we arent. We are getting closer but we cant compete with them - 75 million for a CB is absolute proof of that and infact, i think Arsenal are probably more jealous of our buys than we are of theirs.

Have to agree with you there...

On Vvd... Yes and so many are latching on to his price. BUT their acquisitions of Salah and Mane'... Who btw were in the same ball park figure of young Sanchez proves that we compete for similar priced players. Vvd price is irrelevant to me btw... Ive been praising them going for their targets early and getting them.. Yes Vvd was left over from the last window.

Would be hilarious if it happened this window, but I suspect if it does, it will be in the summer.

I’d imagine that Salah and Mane are paid a huge basic salary, much more than what we offer ( before bonus )

Some people are blinded by the lights when it comes to Liverpool. Coutinho is great on his day, most of the time his day comes against mid table sides or relegation fodder. He’s inconsistent, Mane is a crock and Salah is in the mother of all purple patches.

I don’t genuinely believe all that but that’s how easy it is to counter argue the ‘Liverpool are incredible’ nonsense.

If they are so great and have all these great world class players why don’t they win anything and seemingly always finish behind us? Isn’t no hype like Liverpool hype. Klopp will be out of there within 18 months I reckon

My point is they've done some great business.. And nowhere have i mentioned that we haven't. Not to you personally...but for the umpteenth time i like their current approach... Doing business early. Not waiting for other teams to also come in for those players.

Well for starters it seems oddly timed praising their business since you're doing it in the wake of the VVD transfer which the jury is still out for.

As for their current approach, it's not bad by any stretch. It's also really not much to write home about. I really don't see anything particularly special that they're doing. Nothing really praise worthy. Yes they've got some great players in like Mane and Salah etc... but others clubs have got other players in that have worked for them (all of Man City's buys etc...).

In terms of doing business early kinda, everyone tries to get business done early but unless you're willing to pay a premium it won't happen early. Liverpool didn't get all their players in early. Not all have hit the ground running etc...
Also Liverpool pay some fairly high wages (that's what took us out of the running for Mane IIRC) so that helps them get players in and it also depends what players they're going for. For whatever reason many other clubs weren't that bothered by Salah seemingly so that made it easier.

So I say again, I really don't see what the big deal is. They've made some pretty good transfers. Yes. As have other teams. Liverpool also have some pretty big weaknesses in their squad that haven't been addressed for years.

Don't know how you can praise Liverpool's business when the time to get a defender was the summer, if anything getting a defender now just highlights the fact they left it too late, they've had to pay a premium for God's sake lol

Delicious - Love the way Nike's website and the translation into dozens of languages isn't considered a credible source over at RAWK.........they seem to think that Nike use Google Translate :D.

Thats said with Spurs blinkered tints there... But i understand that.. Grudgingly not wanting to compliment a rival. I think the opposite and by seasons end they will be in the top 4. For a second season running. It wont be a coincidence too.

The line of finishing behind us 7-8 seasons running doesn't hold much sway. It just means their business was poor then.

This season i think we stood still... They might have caught up and overtaken us BUT lets wait until the season ends to confirm if this is indeed the case. I am worried this season whereas previously i knew they were still some distance off us.

I agree, they have done business. It remains to be seen if it is great business. Time and trophies will quantify that.

Its not the defender per se Shady.. Its their business over the last 2-3 windows.. Im not specifically referring to the prices paid either, just the modus..

I'm not convinced personally...if their business was so good how comes they still have glaring holes in their team they haven't addressed yet? It took Poch 3/4 transfer windows to sort us out, it's taken Kloop 5 and they still have holes at LB and GK.

You said yourself that we ought to wait and see if they've progressed and if we've stood still...the time to judge will be then and nit now as it just comes across as knee jerk.

But it is the overpaying for players that allows for quick and early deals.

Nah it got them before others could come in more than anything. Coutinho was a January deal... Mane' early May i think.. Salah talk or leaks/tapping up started in April if im not mistaken.
