We really do need Toby back in time for Southampton, to give him game time before Man U. That would make a huge difference with Scousers, Arse, Juventus and Palace following on from Man U.

EDIT Forget Palace, there is a 13 day gap between them and Juventus.

Surprised more of the media aren't talking about how much of a fucked up position Arsenal could find themselves in 6 months. The market has changed dramatically and they could potentially lose their best two players for nothing. How much in today's market would it cost to bring in two players who are the same level as them? 180-200m maybe, and that's just to stay at the level they're at now which is miles off. Beyond that they need two CBs, another 100m combined, a CM, that's another 30m+. Talking 300m+ with no money having come in just to possibly improve, they've barely got anyone in squad to even cover a chunk of it. It's hilariously shambolic.

I think the media is taking about it a lot. You take those two out of their squad and it starts to look very ordinary - with some of the better players like Cech and Koscielny also in their twilight years.

Difficult to see how things can improve for them over the coming months. Losing AS and Ozil and then there will surely be further speculation that this really is Wenger's last season and form worsens

Get the popcorn out and enjoy

Just another thought ....Man city play 11 games till they meet us by which time in theory they could be on 95 points, and more importantly, have already won the league.
Particularly if ManU drop any points. The theoretical max that anyone (Manu) can get from now is 95
Chelsea 94 Pool 92 and us 91 if we all won our remaining games.....
So we beat Manu Pool and chelsea we basically hand Manc the title..as long as their wheels dont come off...!

We need to beat Arsenal as well ...and a shit load of other games too (obviously)

Didn't feel this was quite enough for its own new thread, but hypothetical scenario question for everyone:

If we were to finish above Arsenal regardless, would you be content with this season if we didn't qualify for the CL next year?

To clarify, in this hypothetical scenario we would finish above Arsenal AND outside of the CL regardless and there is no alternative "In the CL but below Arsenal" choice available. All I'm asking is if finishing above Arsenal would be enough to satisfy you if we didn't qualify for next season's Champions League.

Also, to prevent any smart ass-ery, let's also assume that both teams won't have a shocking drop in standards and will finish in the top 7 at worst, so I'm not asking you if you'd be happy with us in 15th and Arsenal in 16th.

Now obviously we'd all prefer to finish in the CL and above Arsenal, but if finishing above them in 5th or 6th was your option, would that be a satisfactory season for you or not?

For me, I would consider that a good season, albeit not a great one. What say you?

I say there's a reason this thread is called "Race for the top4" and no "Race to the Scum".

So no.

Posted a list on twitter of players leaving ,+30 ,career ending injury,1 year left on contract. It was 14 players. Ok maybe a couple will stay but still I estimate they need to spend at least £300m this summer to replace like for like So that’s just standing still which is currently 6th. I honestly can see clubs like Leicester challenging them next season. They only look halfway decent at moment because if Sanchez ozil and hate to admit but Wilshere looks decent. Ironically after 22k tweets this tweet has been my biggest banger with 1 k likes

For me personally, I think it would be a good thing to do at least for the next two seasons - last year, Wenger's excuse was to say that 'just once in 20 years in not enough to be indicative of a power shift.'

My feeling is that the clubs are on more or less an even keel and whereas a few years ago it meant very little to me to finish below them, now we have parity I feel it's more of a proper rivalry and we need to set about redressing the balance.

You just know, that come the end of the season, it will be the ONE thing that Arsenal fans cling to to make themselves feel better - finishing above Spurs. A couple of seasons of Spurs finishing above Arse should kick their entitled fans into touch a little bit.

Not to mention the headlines.

We have had more tough away games than most other rivals.

We only have Liverpool & Chelsea away to go. Other away games include Swansea, Saints,Bournemouth,Palace, Stoke, Brighton, WBA. Chelsea have to go to teams like Arsenal, United, City, Burnley...

We will pick up wins in most of these away games. I am certain our points per game will only improve here on in

to be honest Arse, and City at home will be so much tougher than last season. We are going to have to be at the top of our game, and be the team doing the high press and winning the 2nd ball. both seem to play better on a wider pitch, their passing style allows them to cut through teams, so we need to press hard and force errors, because if they manage their game we could be in trouble.

the only hope with City is by the time we play them is they will most probably be champions, but hopefully they will lose 1 or 2 before then. if they are still unbeaten they will want to stay that way. we play them on the 14th April, both of us might be playing CL QF 2nd leg match a few days before, and a week after are the FA Cup semis. if they are still in CL and FA Cup, and not in a position to go undefeated, that will be our best chance of taking anything from that game. had it been at WHL I'd feel we had a better chance.

Liverpool and Chelsea away have always been tough to visit, so if I was offered 1pt at each now I'd snap your hand off. then we have to carry on doing the biz v the other 14 teams starting with Wet Spam, hopefully their game v WBA was as tough underfoot as our trip to Swansea. the state of that pitch, and Wembley which I believe isn't the firmest of surfaces hence why we have been a lot slower this season, could cause an upset tomorrow.

Fuck me mate, sounds something like a West Ham fan would say.

Surely we're past that now. Arsenal's future is pretty precarious given the way they're about to lose their best players by far, the rest of that squad is average overall.

We should be aiming much higher than even thinking like that, fuck.that.

All about mentality, we want finish above them and all of our other competitors.

I've seen Wilshire in his latest run of games - Personally I don't think he is going to sustain his form long term, he has been chucking himself about with gay abandon and I reckon another injury could finish him at the this level of the game.

Just my onions.

Absolutely not. Just being content at finishing above Arsenal is such a small time mentality.
I'd come at it the other way and feel that there are 6 big clubs fighting for 4 places so accept that there will be 2 clubs every year who feel they've missed out, and then also recognise that we have the least financial pull of those 6 clubs - as I'm sure we almost all agree - which leads me (IMO only) to a conclusion that missing out on the CL in an individual season isn't ideal but also wouldn't be a major cause for disappointment, especially if we finished above Arsenal in the process.

I don't think it's smalltime to accept that we will miss out on the CL some seasons when we are one of 6 big clubs fighting for 4 places.
