Fascinating ITK.
Yes we generally try to buy the next big thing but having a couple of proven winners who have been there and done it in the squad would surely only be a benefit to everyone. And we wouldn’t have to google them to find out who they are.
Bale would need a hair cut and learn to shave properly for me to fully accept him back though.
Having more than just 11 that could be perceived as first 11 is essential too. replacement players of equal quality is essential and we don’t have enough of that.

I guess the only thing that doesn't make sense to me so far is that "Sissoko is going nowhere" but "Gaffer really still wants Barkley". Certainly there is no need for both in the same squad. IMO, Barkley arrives, Sissoko departs the following window.
Sissoko is becoming useful poch likes athletes

I can't imagine we wouldn't sort out players existing contracts before we start shelling out on players like Modric/Bale.

Midfield options of Modric, Winks, Dier, wanyama, Dembele in addition to Alli, Eriksen and Sissoko able to do a job, would be very strong.

Wages will surely be an issue though, maybe some kind of image rights deal etc?

Luka is a Nike Athlete, so always a possibility. Bale is Adidas so no help from them.

I honestly cannot see our chairman agreeing to that kind of outlay on a player with this level of injury that hasn’t played yet since. My suspicion is that he will be going to West London in which case my Chelsea supporting mate has said RLC will ask to leave that lot in the summer according to their message boards.
Interesting that Makes sense. Barkley and RLC are almost like for like. I doubt Chelsea would ever sell to us but RLC could be an interesting option.

That would be my ideal result, I have a mate that is obsessed with the Chelsea youth players and his face would be priceless. Would never happen though.

Any do people keep touting this? I have never heard of a sponsor helping out a club in this way?
Adidas like to get involved when it comes to players moving between Real Madrid and Bayern.

If Bale and Modric comes back, we will be a totally different team. If they are prepared to take a pay cut..... hopeful.

Conflicted on this. On one hand, Modric is still the best CM in the world, but at 32 would he be able to adapt to this high press and style that we play? Having him in a midfield 2 with Wanyama/Dembele would be insane!

Bale is tricky because he is obviously a club legend. I think our current shape with the 2 behind Kane relies less on him burning people for pace, whilst the 3 behind Kane would probably ask him to do that.

My only concern with bringing Bale back is that that leaves you with Bale, Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lamela, Sissoko and GKN as your options behind Kane, where I would say 2 have to go. Logic would say GKN for sure, then probably Lamela...as much as I love the guy, Poch loves Sissoko, and he evidently works hard!

It’s then the question of going for Bale or someone like Pulisic...we would probably be Bale’s last move, so 5/6 years there! Pulisic has the potential to be a world beater but realistically, we would probably not get his full career, unless we went on a huge trophy winning streak!

No he's not. 2nd maybe, but did you see Iniesta totally dominate him and the match two weeks ago? That was a true masterclass in midfield play that every player and manager should be forced to watch, though it wouldn't need much forcing it was such a delight to see.

But yes, I'd have Modric back because being 2nd best to Iniesta is about the highest praise a midfielder can get, and he's got at least a couple of years left in him, he'd be great alongside Wanyama, and Winks would learn a lot from him too.

But it won’t happen.

Why not buy both of them.
