I'd feel fucking sick if we let Onomah go without him getting an opportunity. He looked fucking brilliant at world cup and to hear he's having to hear from his friends the shit posted in here before he's ever been given a prem start makes it even worse.
Onomah leaving on loan this year(and to the wrong club at that) says it all. Poch is not willing to play him in his best position even though it clear as day that its as a CM. He even sent him to another manager that wont play him in his best position. Poch rates Sissoko, who is just a beyond atrocious player and perhaps the worst technical footballer in the league over him at CM for christ sake. Its awful So for Onomahs own good, he should 1000% leave and join a club where the manager will actually do right by him and his abilities and puts him into a position to succeed. Im seriously doubting Poch is that manager, unfortunately. Ashame because hes a good player with loads and loads on potential at CM. Poch is just too blind to see it.

He's a young player and he should be allowed to come back from his loan and have a chance to impress. Don't forget Walker and Rose both went out on loan early in their careers and I think it was crucial for their development, not to mention Kane. Onomah should look at those examples and trust that the manager will give him his chance if he shows enough. Ideally we should recall him if he isn't getting the minutes in the right position.

Hope he comes back in the summer and has a good present season in centre mid, only thing I think is letting him down when I see him is his speed of pass but that's easy to adjust, that's why I'm sure Winks is ahead of him in the pecking order.

I would advise Josh’s mates to stop relaying the online comments back to him. People are far more likely to post something negative about their team than something positive, it’s not an accurate reflection of how people really feel, collectively or individually.

The fact that the Onomah thread is constantly bumped on the first page of the forum suggests that, aside from all the poisonous rubbish people spout, he is a player we all have REALLY high hopes for, and we just want him to smash it, like we know he can.

I think he is going to be absolutely brilliant when he and the coaching staff work out what kind of player he really is. I can think of heaps of players who hadn’t quite worked out their best position before they were in their 20s, Bale for one.

I would advise any footballer to stay well away from forums and Twitter and to let his friends know he doesn't want any of the negative comments passed on. At their worst it's anonymous losers venting their frustrations at the world in valueless opinions.

Imo the one crucial thing Onomah lacks in his game is intensity. He may have all the technical ability in the world. But for a CM he is just too laid back for me. People compare him to dembele, but dembele will get stuck in, Ive never seen that from josh. I think that’s the big difference between him and winks and even someone like Skipp who’s coming through. You can see Skipp has got that extra edge. The only CMs that can get away without having that intensity are the truly great like pirlo xavi who’s pure technical ability make aggression redundant. Even apart from winks in the next couple years josh will have competition from TOB Skipp Paris Maghoma. They can’t all make it.

"So the defensive midfielder we loaned in doesn't work as attacking midfielder or striker?!
Is there some other position we could try him at, like I don't know central midfield maybe?
Play him in central midfield or send him back, we're not doing us, him or Spurs any favor by playing him out of position."

Taken from a Villa forum, I think it captures the overall opinion of him over there. Mixed in with the comments of him being useless and that they should cancel the loan.

Another interesting note is that they seem to think that he avoids too many challenges. Reminded me of a certain Dane a couple of seasons ago.

So? We have people here who want to sell Dele and Lloris. People slated Eriksen for ages and Kane was "championship at best".

It was posted as to show what their thoughts are. But never mind, great attitude to have on an internet forum. (y)

Josh reads himself a lot about him. Think especially on Twitter

Sure the young guys all do. It’s a massive part of kids lives these days. Must be impossible to resist searching your own name.

I think this is what Poch was talking about. It could seriously effect them mentally

Would love for him to be recalled and played instead of Sissoko.

Poch doesn’t seem to be giving youngsters (bar winks) a chance this year.

KWP deserves a game too.

Onamah does need to stick his foot in, be more physical but ultimately, he needs to be played in his natural position and given the opportunity and then coached regarding how to improve.

Hercules I respect your input on this forum. You may have an opinion on winks and Onomah. But to say Onomah is miles ahead is just ridiculous. Winks is an England international with decent chance of going to World Cup. Onomah is Playing in the championship and not even holding down a regular place. These are just the cold hard facts.
I’m pretty sure that was McDermott’s opinion, not Hercules’.

I for one am absolutely desperate for Josh to come back in the summer and be given a crack of the whip in a central position, he is not a player I want us to lose. The potential is enormous and I think this full season will have a been a massive learning curve for him

I cant agree Onomah is miles ahead of Winks, we have no quantifiable evidence of this...on one hand you have Winks putting in quality performances against Real Madrid and Josh playing in the Championship with mixed results. Now thats not to say Josh cant be the better player or has a higher ceiling but lets not pit one Spurs lad off against another or get ahead of ourselves.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. He needs to be given the chance for us in central midfield in a few games.

I think the loan will do him really good. I can’t believe we would entertain selling him in the summer. He hasn’t even had a chance.

He is on loan being played out of position and in a team that play a different style. He has shown glimpses but I csn’t See how he can show his best under those conditions.
The only real advantage, that I can see, is that he is getting first team football. And I don’t really see why he coudln’t At this club. Then with stories linking us to Dembele’s replacement such as Kondogbia etc that makes me concerned for his future too.

I think we’re taking the wording used far too seriously here. All that was meant was that McDermott thinks Onomah is a bigger prospect and talent than Winks, having watched both develop over the last decade.
