It wasn’t a penalty and Dowell hit the ball 2 times on the penalty, the goal shouldn’t have counted but it makes it much better. Arsenal deserve this
It was a pen. Whilst Debuchy got the ball, he went through Traore to get it.

Even with slow mo it is unclear whether he hit it twice.

Lovely seeing the goons desperately pleading for this just to stay in the game against Forest...

Championship...

14th place...

No Manager...

LMFAO!!!

How can you not put at least 1 of your main players on the bench just in case? You deserve to lose when Calum Chambers is your most experienced sub

I thought it was 50-50 the first time I saw it but now after watching it again I agree with you.

Wenger really did fuck up with the subs didn't he, he should have had a couple of first teamers on the bench, you have to say that it was pure and utter arrogance and if he doesn't get a result on Wednesday he's gonna look mighty stupid.

Arse spanked Forest 4-0 in the League Cup last season using a weakened side and decided
that it would work again.

Tomorrow nights Brighton v Palace wil have the VAR available.

Question is - would VAR have made a difference with the 2nd penalty being given as a goal?
It took way too long to find a replay angle that made it 100% clear that it did clip the standing/slipping foot.
VAR is going to need a decision to be made within 10 seconds at the most - not 2/3 minutes.

Im not sure any replay of that made it a clear cut case, so I dont see how they could've disallowed it...although its very likely thats what happened, they cant be 100% sure.
The only angle that couldve proven it would be from directly behind the goal, or just to the side....but I haven't seen any replays like that yet.

Whats so outlandish about that @Armchair ?

It's an interesting example of how VAR won't take the human error issues out of decision making.

I think even the most jaundiced of Spurs fans must realise that it hit both feet, simply because there's no real way the ball could have gone in that direction otherwise.

But you're right that by looking at the replay alone, there's no clear indication that it hits both feet, so the ref would still need to make the call.

I hope there's a really contentious call in the M23 derby tonight. Give VAR a proper test.

Its bound to be the most dull, eventless match in football history.

It's also going to be interesting in terms of handballs for penalties.
Referee still has to ultimately decide if it was intent or natural reaction/ball to hand.
VAR may say "well his hand was out in front of him, therefore it's deliberate", but there has to be some accounting for whether that's natural movement or a defender's conscious choice to put hand out.
