I understand that we feel as fans that we should be looking to do deals in this window - and I'd be happy if we did for someone like Gomes or Denis Suarez on a loan - but personally I would be quite happy if we don't do any deals in this month on the basis that we announce any deals we get done now for the player to join in the summer.

What Liverpool did with Naby Keita was a bit much. Announcing signing a player to join in a year's time seems daft but if we get to end of Jan and the club announces a deal for a top level player to join in the summer, I'd be delighted.

It would be a huge relief to know now that we've done some key business ahead of the summer window, cos let's face it - we rarely buy anyone in January anyway but still manage to leave it late in the summer. If we can at least do early business for the summer then we've improved on previous windows already and provided some excitement ahead of a massive season in our new stadium.

The lesson to be learned is that there is only so much planning you can do. Have lists and be ready to pounce at a moment's notice. Opportunities may come and go within a few days, so no endless haggling and no low-ball offers for key targets.

It's a sellers market.

couldn't agree more!

Think this is and has been the key point for a few windows now - its a sellers market, unless you are one of the perceived top 4 or 5 clubs in the world that have a pull and allure of their own, not to mention a certain level of guaranteed finals/trophies. With all the money that is filtering through the market clubs just don't really need to sell, unless the players heads get turned with talk of crazy wages...

Makes a club run the way Spurs have, increasingly more and more difficult to find value in the market, not saying it cant be done but it just seems to be getting tougher and tougher.

I think we may continue to put more and more faith into academy graduates, but i cant lie, it would be nice for us to splash the cash once in a while and get a top tier superstar, its great that we have created our own (bale, kane, et al) but ultimately we are selling club (all be it eventually at crazy prices) with a chance every season of being in the running for trophies but never really the favourites.

I still remember our teams of the 90s, I'm happy with where we are now, how we are run and the football we play. Do I want more, yes. But I am happy we are not where Leeds or Aston Villa etc. etc are!

I have no expectation we will sign anyone this month, I hope we get some sort of deal agreed for RS.

That being said I still enjoy the bi-polar posts in this forum, it keeps me entertained while watching the live streams of the stadium build.

ITK to talk about :woot:

So according to google "The Happening" is a lightning-paced, heart-pounding paranoid thriller. One of the main reviews includes the line "The Happening begins with promise, but unfortunately descends into an incoherent and unconvincing trifle."

This all sounds like Herc is saying it'll be a typical transfer window for us
