I think Toby must know what is enforceable. It's unlikely he's got some no-mark SC forumer to advise him

Perhaps he has. Although, it didn't seem that way at Southampton, on loan there, did it?

Here's my tuppence worth. I think he would sign for 100k a week on a five year deal, with an option to renegotiate upwards after 3 years. Forget VVD. If some tosser signs a wanker and pays him a fortune, it's nothing to do with me

Why sign? He's won SFA elsewhere. He could win SFA here but you look at the team and think it's much more likely. Are you comfortable? Are you starting regularly? Are the wages sufficient?

The "project" - new stadium, Poch, Kane, the footballing philosophy, France's captain, Dele, contentment at a growing club. I'm a Spurs fan, so biased.

From what I am told there is better offer than that that has been on the table for a while. He's not rejected it out of hand, but he doesn't look close to signing it either.

That doesn’t sound good. Sounds very much like he wants his nice, convenient buy out clause so he can hedge his bets.

Can’t say I blame him, but I think his advisers have played this pretty well if that clause is to be believed.

Seems like Man City are looking to Spain for their centrebacks going forward. I don’t think we have to worry about them going for Toby too.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants to spend £50m to reinforce his squad, with Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, 29, and Real Sociedaddefender Inigo Martinez, 26, both targets. (Sun)

Premier League leaders Manchester City are also interested in 24-year-old Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti. (L'Equipe - in French)

They have been testing the water in regards to Toby, I am 100% sure of that. It is likely though they have identified numerous targets for the same position(it's what most clubs do) to see which one pans out best.

Whilst this is not ideal info in respect of Toby, it is quite promising in that we are seemingly willing to pay over £100k per week. We need to be getting closer to Liverpool and Arsenal on wages to have any hope of remaining competitive IMHO...

I get the impression that Pep wants a CB this window, and it sounds like unless a stupid offer came in for Toby hes not going anywhere this window.
I can see them going after Umtiti as he has (I think) a 50m buyout clause.

I believe both him and Kane have signed new contracts but it hasn't been made public yet

Maybe they have been told not to say anything

I reckon we signed Messi 2 years ago but loaned him back to Barca for 2 years so he'll finally come in the summer

Top secret though, been told not to share.

The way Hercules says through to summer you’d assume contract news. Any deal like sessegnon you’d think would be announced this window. And doubt itk would get that excited about naming rights. Does point to contract for Toby or Kane.

Would be great if it's true and announce soon. Would be a huge boost to all of us... Don't think we will see much movement so this is as good as it gets.

Lots of rumours on twitter he’s signed this afternoon. Not sure if come from Hercules info or elsewhere but all over twitter now.

Could anyone see an agreement like "if you sing our new contract you will get paid more, it will remove that rumored release clause, and we will let you listen to offers if we don't get into CL"? It would be great if Toby signed and wanted to stay, but let's say he is searching for hardware, but still wants to help us out? He is hands down one of the best CB's out there and he could just be doing us a favor in the end? Not like he has been treated badly here and it really is the first place he was given a go.
