Think it's Pulisic, not sure who else that we can realistically get would be such a commercial success especially with Nike/American market with NFL and new stadium going in the next season. Then again "Nothing is an issue" could refer to wages so it could be someone like Bale. Exciting times in any case.

btw think it hasn't been mentioned but Aurier had a selfie with Julian Draxler at the Basketball last night with the emoji eyes.

I know they were team mates at PSG.

The latest ITK makes me think we are setting ourselves up for the summer and that this season is and always has been treated as a potential write off because of Wembley, etc.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as saying it was a write off, I think it's still essential to Levy's plan that we get CL again for next season, but I imagine Levy would be more forgiving in terms of us not competing for the title as much as we have in recent years etc.

i think CL is massively overstated when it comes to players joining, made very little difference to Man U, players number one priority is wages, Citeh had no problem getting players when they werent in CL, CL is only for one season anyway

Sorry but Man Utd is a completely different kettle of fish. Even though they had a year or two out of the CL, they've built up enough of a reputation as one of the biggest clubs in the world over the past 20-odd years that wasn't completely undone by them having a bad season or two while they were adapting to life without Fergie. Whether our fans like it or not, we're still very much a second-tier club in terms of "prestige" etc. and the best way to remedy that is to establish ourselves as a regular CL team. When you couple that with the fact that we also don't pay top-level wages, it's absolutely essential that we maintain our CL status in order to attract the best players and keep our current best players. Even Kane has come out and said he wants to play here as long as we're still moving in the right direction etc. If we drop down to being an also-ran Europa League-level team like we were before then it's only a matter of time before our star players are off.

As for City, yes they don't have the prestige of Man Utd to bank on, but they were able to pay players such massive wages that they couldn't possibly turn it down. So to a certain extent you're right, massive wages will ultimately take priority over CL qualification, but seeing as we don't offer even the going rate in terms of wages, let alone massive ones, that just makes CL even more important to us when it comes to attracting/keeping the best players.

The last two teams to win the Premier League did not seem to mind no CL football at the time (Chelsea and Leicester).

That's a completely separate issue though to be honest. Not having to play european football is obviously a massive advantage when it comes to challenging for the title but that has nothing to do with whether potential transfer targets care about CL qualification or not.

There’s a reason it hasn’t been mentioned. Can you guess what that might be?

Currently? Victoria sponge is making me wet.

But Mrs A&C really is a world class cakesmith and as I type I'm munching on a slice of her banana and toffee cake. They are trying to get her on that Bake Off bollocks but she's not having it.

Your humour has finally got too subtle for me. I know there is an insult about your wife in there somewhere but can't for the life of me find it.

I’m excited about the confidence and enthusiasm from Herc and JJ. So, whomever or whatever this is about, I am going to assume it’ll make us very happy. Fingers crossed that it comes to fruition. I also hope we find out soon, what it’s about.
