I have not seen him yet in a live Bundesliga game. Missed the Hertha game in October where he scored. General feeling is, he is the most closest to a Klose-like player Germany have in their U23 system. Werner is more of a Muller type than a typical no9.

He has already been captain of German U17 tournaments & also scored 2 hatricks in U17 Euros last year. He is someone who is certainly on the rise.

Btw, Fiete is usually a German short form of names like Wifried or Friedrich.

I would take him, if our scouts are satisfied. I would rather get a young upcoming player like him than likes of Llorente. Long term, a player like him can offer more.

I don't know but that doesn't change my argument. Why get a pure number 9 as backup when he'll hardly ever play? If we get a player that can also play attacking mid/wide forward, he can rotate in with our other attacking mids. As far as I'm concerned Son is adequate backup to Kane anyway. Only my opinion, doesn't affect what the club does.

Thanks for clarifying!

For what it’s worth, Timo Werner is nothing like Muller. He’s absolutely rapid for a start, much more pace and more direct, he’s no second striker like Muller is.

Gerd Muller could do only two things, but whenever he did, it was a goal: spin on a sixpence and shoot, and shift and shoot.

Surely he would be put in the development squad until the summer with a view to fighting for a 1st team squad place?

He looks a talented youngster but certainly not ready to be number 2 to Kane. Hamburg are woeful yet he’s rarely involved with the 1st team. I’m not knocking his potential but if you’re not involved with a struggling team then you’re certainly not ready to be displacing Llorente and supporting Kane.

It’s all well and good saying that he won’t get games and such, but where is the harm in at least getting him in on our books?

Hate using them as an example, but Chelsea bought Courtois as a promising keeper from Belgium and loaned him out for like 3 years before he came into the team.

We could always buy Arp, and loan him out somewhere he will get games and develop? Someone like Forest or Fulham or Leeds or something.

I watch Hamburg every week, and this kid is the business. Unbelievably advanced for his age, physically and technically. His acknowledgement of Kane as his inspiration is spot on, as the two are eerily similar.

Would love to get him at Spurs, but I’m not sure it would be soon. He’s spoken on playing time for development, and while I’ve no doubt he’d like to play for Poch and Spurs, he just won’t get the playing time like he’s currently getting at Hamburg.

Really? Strange reference then because how many people on this board have seen Gerd Muller actually play?
Well that's what I immediately thought of bc the only similarity bt Thomas Muller and Werner are their nationalities. I could be wrong as well but either it's an odd comparison.

Ever since he broke through halfway through the first half of the season he has largely been a mainstay in the squad I believe

Correct. He's been a starter every week available since scoring on his debut.
