Could have had Edwards on the bench instead of Trippier and given him 15 minutes today

Poch will pick the players who deserve to be part of the match day squad. Not just based on talent, but on their attitude, how they contribute to the squad collective, how they live their life etc. It would seem that Edwards is quite away away from Poch's ideals at present.

Tbf edwards, as already stated, is injured but poch didn't even give KWP minutes and we were 3-0 up before the 60 minute mark. He could have played for half an hour. What was the point of putting sissoko on at the end? Lamela and wanyama are coming back from injury so match time is important for them, but sissoko has had plenty of game time recently, his inclusion was unnecessary. (Yes, I'm aware that kwp played against wimbledon but we could have given serge a rest at the end after running about all game.)

Hell I know they have massive injury issues but kenny and holgate both played full matches for everton and I thought holgate was actually pretty good.

The kids will only really improve through consistent game time.

there's no point moaning about it, we all know the score. until these players have gone through the pochettino integration process and have managed to convince him that they're unequivocally 100% ready despite no previous first team experience then we're just not going to see them.

I was reading some old posts in 2015, and saw AVB described as anti-youth after 2 seasons here, so it was expected for him not to bring anyone through, but Poch was described as pro-youth in 2015 and therefore he knew what he was doing. But he has basically done as badly as AVB over double the period. It's mad but part of me is still hopeful that our best might get a chance.

It's good, players like Pritch and Milos have still found their way to the Top leagues and players like Oteh do well, then it will still set a good example that coming to us will get a good education. But I would do what players are starting to do at Chelsea and get the education maybe sign a pro then leave and look for other clubs and get my career started.

To be fair to AVB he did give opportunities to Caulker and Tom Carroll. In terms of handing out first team debuts and then following that up with trust in subsequent games, AVB has been as good as Poch probably. He even gave Kane some opportunities on the fringe in the League Cup and the Europa League before Sherwood arrived.

With Poch, the only ones that really stand out for me are Winks and Mason. Kane is perhaps borderline because as I said he was already a part of the team under Sherwood.

If anyone's interested Sancho started for BVB tonight half-time now 0-0. They also have an 18 year old at CF. Isak is his name from Holland I think.

You're right he probably gave the same amount of PL minutes to Caulker as Poch has given to Winks and iirc was also responsible for bringing through Townsend and given him his PL debut and turning him into an England player. He also gave about as many PL minutes to Carroll though, as Poch has to Onomah, I don't remember AVB using Carroll much in PL but he did in the EL a lot.

So anti-youth AVB, in 2 years introduced 2 academy players into the first team and they ended up getting England call ups as a result, but he is allowed to be criticised. And Poch the paragon of youth has done that to 1 in 4 years, but we're told that we should trust him as he is better at it, because he says so.

I was watching, he started off really well, but then seemed to tire near the end. Unfortunate he hit the post

Yet for the past few years we’ve played with some of the youngest starting X1 in the league.

I think we did under AVB as well though not as young as Poch. Either way I don't understand why that's relevant, to judging who has used the academy more, if Poch chooses to buy young players and not use the academy, then he is not using the academy. In double the time, he has used it less. He may never bring another through again but will a young starting XL make that acceptable, will we just keep finding more and more reasons why we can't question this aspect of his management.

As BG said in the old thread I saw, we have produced more World Class players than we have ever bought, and we are still more likely to produce a World Class player than we are to buy one. I only care about Spurs being successful
