Whoever Arsenal sign they are not going to hit the ground running surrounded by Galacticos.

Even Lackaluck is on a 'dry spell' if and when selected.

Not all transfers are no, it depends on a lot of other factors then merely saying x should cost similar to y because y went for a high fee and x is better.
Age and contract length remaining play a huge part.

You don't think prices for players are affected by other transfer fees?
Sorry, but you're being obtuse. Yes market price is relevant. But so is age, contract length, injury record, type of experience, wages and signing on fees and agent demands. You're coming at this as if market rate is the only decider and that's where your mistake lies.

Aubemeyang is 28, has a contract until 2021 and is in the top 5 strikers in the world. £60M is underpriced in this market.

He's also a striker who relies on his pace, he's in his peak now but how long until his peak is over and starts to slow down?

He's also coming from an arguably inferior league and has, crucially, very little sell on value as pacey forwards slow down in their early thirties.

With that squad, which is unbalanced, devoid of quality in key areas and lacks a lot of character? Not for me mate, they need a lot of restructuring on many levels and their handling of contracts looks appalling.

It will take some time to clean up the malaise they've slipped into, and its quite deep rooted.

Indeed. In the summer half their first team, and the best half, was in the final year of their contracts or over thirty. For a long time they have needed to improve as a defensive unit. But Whinger seems completely blind to it. All his serious effort seems to go into improving an already impressive (up to now) attacking unit. He spent a huge amount of money (at the time) buying Ozil and Sanchez, when he needed to sort his defensive unit out. He has had them for several years, still hasn't sorted their defensive unit out and is now losing them for a fraction of their current market value (because he let contracts get out of hand).

People say they have money - and they do. But not as much as City, Chelsea and United. They have more money than us - but we will start making inroads on that with the new stadium and associated dealings and have a better squad, youth set-up, youth players, training facilities, and soon a better stadium. Hell, even the Mickeys look like finishing above them - all joking aside, how many times has that happened in the last decade? If they miss out on CL this season, that will be two seasons in a row, for a club that isn't really structured to cope without it. And their prospects won't look great for next season. With a major squad rebuild and no clear advantages, financial or elsewhere, over any of the five clubs they are competing with for four CL places.

On top of which, their have a divisive manager and a divided boardroom.

Higuain was 90 million Euros at 28 years old, a year before the market completely exploded. Perhaps Dortmund just want shot of him so badly they're willing to take a hit in order to do it, but it just seems ridiculously cheap. He's an incredible player.

Napoli didn't intend to sell Higuain, Napoli priced him at that because they knew Juve had Pogba money burning a hole in their pocket.

Why would Aubemeyang want to go to Arsenal? Who the hell watches a team struggle against West Brom and Southampton, then get beaten by Forest and Bournemouth and think 'that's the club I want to play for'
