Nothing in it between 2nd and 5th, nothing , just refereeing decisions luck or no luck.

I think we play, better footie, than utd thats for sure and are a more balanced unit than Liverpool and have a greater morale than chelsea.

With the wembley factor weve still had an impressive season, with the lane we,d be challenging city no doubt

Challenging city might be going a bit far.

If we finished 5th and win the CL while the scums finished 6th and won the EL, do we have 6 English teams in the CL next season?

This year is shaping up to be brutal

City are there, obviously
Liverpool are building a head of steam
Arsenal could be at risk of being the first obvious casualty, but still some way to go

My hunch is that there are two slots to share between us, Chelsea and Utd

We’ll have a pretty good idea half way through Feb though

Obviously luck can play a part, but ultimately the old adage of you end up where you deserve to be in the league holds true.

We've dropped at least eight points against bus-parking teams, a problem we still haven't solved. With those eight points we'd deservedly be in second; right now we're where we deserve to be.

And that's before you look at our record against the rest of the top six...

And when pool next drop points, everything will change again.

A month ago the sensible argument being made was that the top three places were out of reach and we were in a three way fight for fourth with Arsenal and Liverpool so all to play for.

Our top4 hopes will most likely be known in games btw end of Jan to Feb when we play United, Liverpool,Arsenal & Palace . At the very least we got to take 7 or 8 pts of them.

Bang on. I think it'll come down to last 2 games for 3rd and 4th. Utd are shite so while I wouldn't be surprised to see them slip up I think thats a bridge too far. They still get wins when they've been awful.

The only think I know for certain is that Pochettino's Spurs only start hitting their stride around this time of year.

I'm confident that we will stay near the top end of the form charts between now and the end of the season so lets see what the others can do.

IF we can keep our best players fit for the run in we will finish in that top four. With United, Liverpool and Arsenal coming up, massive couple of weeks...COYS

It's our away form that has been letting us down so far. Between the 2nd to 6th clubs the home form shows only 1 point difference, and we are the 1 point behind the rest, with 7 wins 4 draws and 1 loss. Away we are 2 points behind the 2nd to 4th teams and a record of 6 wins 1 draw and 4 losses.

That said, we have been missing Vic, Toby, Eric and Danny for long stretches of the season, and haven't been able to play them all in the same game at all. With Vic and Eric back, Toby nearly back and Danny hopefully not too far and the team hitting form, I am very optimistic that we can get top 4, if not 2nd.

This... We not too far off last season on points so yes we can do this. Liverpool have their dip in form around late February/March so they will drop points.. Chelsea have problems.. United im not sure of. But i think 3rd and even 2nd is still in our hands.

Our away record last year was generally very good we didn't have our last and fourth defeat until may which is good going hence why we ran Chelsea so close, our main nemesis continues to be we struggle to pick up points away at the big sides although injuries this year haven't helped that cause but we usually struggle at the best of times.

If city had a clear week like Liverpool and David silva available I think yesterday may have been very different. On a bright note Talk of Chelsea loaning Carroll. Drinkwater Barkley their outlay and standards seem to be on the slide. I wonder if abramovich realises he can’t compete with city ,with stadium delay I wonder if he’s had enough. A declining Arsenal and Chelsea would make our lives a whole lot easier.

City played right in to Liverpool's hands yesterday by continuing to play out of the back. Pep was stubborn and they were burned by it. It made Liverpool look like world beaters for 80 minutes but not many others are going to try to play that way against them. I hope Poch watched and learned the lesson.

2nd or 3rd for us, but 2-5 may all come down to the last match.

All he has to do is look at the away games at City and Liverpool last year to see that!
