Bordeaux Owner Nicolas de Tavernost on Malcom-Arsenal in tomorrow's L'Équipe: "Malcom will not be leaving."
I mean I wouldn’t be surprised if still he ends up there by the end of the window but honestly this just shows how it’s so hard to trust journos nowadays. Literally only a few that I’d consider reliable for Spurs.

Makes me despair why spurs seem utterly incapable of signing attacking talent. We have no depth in attack at all and always seek to bulk at paying the going rate to improve our front line. Llorente and Janssen have been tragic signings and we are a Kane injury away from being toothless. We need another wide pacy attacking player and a decent back up to Kane.

....A lot of top sides might be a bit jealous that we signed Eriksen, Lamela, Dele and Son for a total of under £70 million.

Scousers just paid that for one centre-half.

I wouldn't despair too much.

Arsenal on verge of beating Tottenham to Malcom and replace Manchester United-bound Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal are on the brink of beating Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Malcom from Bordeaux.

Both north London teams have bid for the Brazilian forward this month but Spurs were only willing to offer €35million (£31m) for his signature. Bordeaux want €50m (£44.5m) for Malcom and while Arsenal are not willing to pay quite that much, they are happy to pay up to €45m (£40m) for the man they have identified as Alexis Sanchez’s replacement.

Malcom was always a smokescreen for James Maddison - don't want anybody else getting the jump on us.

It's not like we're not willing to pay out for the right player eg. Davinson. Maybe we just don't believe he is worth what Bordeaux are asking.

I would rather we didn't pay out than take a chance and then are left with a £40m flop on our hands.

Or maybe we have a preferred target?

Edit: I just hope said target is achievable if so.

Pardon me for being dumb here but is Herc insinuating that we havent been beaten to Malcolm as in we may get him or the fact that we have never bid and arent being turned down?

Have to say, at 40m this kid is no sure thing. French league experts are still unsure - he could be great but it’s early days. I trust we’ve done due diligence on this one, and if we consider it not worth pursuing for the price I trust that call. Fingers crossed the next time we do decide a young player is worth the large fee, we get ourselves another Sanchez.

I think what he is saying is that the narratives we were "outbid", the player "prefered arsenal", and we were "not willing to pay" are all lies and in fact we opted not to deal at all due to reasons that may or may not ever come out.

Not sure he's worth that much but It would be cool to have a young Brazilian attacker at Spurs for the first time in my lifetime. Closest we came was Gilberto and I'm still receiving therapy for that.

It could be that Hercs is telling us not to believe what the rags are saying (ie. that they are reporting that we have given up on signing him and that he will join the gooners).

Let’s wait and see where the player ends up before we throw the toys out of the pram. There’s still half a month to go before the TW closes.

Hercules has hinted several times about not believing the media and players going to other clubs instead of us. If its true he wont leave now, could this be a deal done for the summer? It must surely be an attractive proposal to the selling club that we would be willing to wait until the summer before pinching their best player.

To be fair to the Journos they're probably just being played by the players agents. Thats where the rumours for wages start imo. Start a story saying player A is earning this so my player should be on blah blah blah. Parasites.
