What I love about kane is that when he breaks all these records, all he wants to do is go on to break the next one. He doesn't sit around letting all the hype go to his head

I hope we can just make up records that he can beat for the next 10 years.

If someone tells him X player has the most Premier League goals scored on 21st January, Harry will be trying to beat that against Southampton next Sunday. He's that competitive.

What I like is the talk from Poch and others that he trains ver professionally. I think it will be this reason beyond any others that will enable him to break Shearer's record.

Everything Kane touches turns to goals

Even when Harry Kane doesn't get the cleanest of contacts the ball seems to be flying into the net right now.

Another record has tumbled for him. Kane surpassed Teddy Sheringham's club record Premier League haul with two strikes that took him to 98 goals in the league. The century is likely to come soon, perhaps even at struggling Southampton next weekend.

For everything Kane touches right now turns to goals. His second at Wembley was messy but he won't care. Both his goals were from close range, but again, he won't care if the 'tap-in merchant' claims come, because he's clearly not.

Kane is evolving all the time. Apart from being a natural finisher, he's getting stronger and stronger on the ball and his movement and awareness are constantly improving. His passing range is another growing asset.

The assist for Dele Alli in Swansea showcased that but he provided another moment at Wembley on Saturday night with a fizzing ball out to Serge Aurier on the right which was brilliant in its execution.

Pochettino made it clear after the game that while Kane's goals get him noticed, that's not what makes him special.

"His mentality is collective. That is so important to explain to people. Yes, he scores a lot of goals but his mentality is to help the team, work for the team and that is what makes him a special player," he said.

"Not only is he a player with talent that scores goals, in his mind it is always to help and play collectively and put in the effort for the team. Then of course he scores goals because he is talented."

Nonetheless, it's interesting that Harry's failed to score in around half his games this year, and the goals he has scored have come in about half as many games. Loads of braces and hat tricks but few singles.

How many of those players did that at the start of their careers as youth players breaking through? Rather than as already established stars.

Only Fowler?

Michael Owen came through the youth set up at Liverpool. Not as many goals as Kane, but Owen was leagues joint top scorer with 18 goals in his debut season.

Went on to be top scorer the following season also.

He was young when he made his breakthrough if I recall.

I think it's his overall focus and the lifestyle that he leads to go with it.
Doesn't drink once the season starts, has a personal nutritionist, isn't often seen out at public events (Rose/Tripper at the darts, half the first team being at NBA last week). Of course, it may also be that his Mrs has him under the thumb :D

His mind seems to be almost entirely on being the best striker he can be, with outright determination not to rest on his laurels and desire and dedication to improve constantly.

When you consider 12 appearances were Sub and subbed off 40 times. Much more than shearer I’d imagine. Back in the day you never subbed off your best player to protect him.

And Shearer was already an established striker by the time the Prem kicked in for him. Harry has started pretty much from Year dot!

Harry’s stats are simply remarkable. You have to pinch yourself and think that he cannot keep these numbers up

4 season wonder I reckon...

I think it’s about time that Harry Kane focused on a real record. Something that might actually be difficult for him to reach. Or at least it will take him a while.

Pele scored 1,281 goals in 1,363 games. So, Harry should be aiming for 1,284 goals or more. That would cut out any debate.
However, we have to take Pele’s stats with a pinch of salt. He played from 1956 – 1977 when data wasn’t tracked like it is today. And those numbers definitely include goals in unofficial games, friendlies and tour matches for club sides and Brazil.

So, let’s stick to his undisputed, official tally. 77 goals for Brazil in 92 appearances. Plus 619 domestic goals for Santos in 638 appearances, 24 goals for Santos in 18 appearances in various international club competitions, and 37 regular season and post Season goals for New York Cosmos in 64 appearances from 1975-77 (Santos and Cosmos stats exclude friendlies).

That lots adds up to 757. (The RSSSF reckons that Pelé scored 767 goals in 831 official games, so they rank 10 of his friendly goals as ‘official’ in some way. No matter. Near enough).

So, let’s break that down into targets for Harry:

77 goals for England? Pele had the advantage of playing for a Brazil team that won 3 world cups (58, 62, 70) and during an era of less organized defending. Kane has the advantage of there being more international games played nowadays. I reckon Rooney’s total of 50 goals for England is a realistic ambition for Harry, depending on the quality of his teammates.

619 goals for Spurs in league and domestic cups? Tricky, but possible if Everton and Stoke manage to stay up in the PL.

24 CL and EL goals for Spurs in European ties? Very likely. That’s only 8 hattricks.

37 goals for LA Galaxy when Harry’s in his mid-40s? Stonewall.

I’m going to conclude that 50 goals for England and 650 for Spurs making a total of 700 goals would more than match Pele’s prolific achievement.

Impossible?

Impossible is nothing. This is Harry.

I've spent the last couple years living in South America and have picked up the lingo and can now read all the transfer filth in MARCA, etc.

Suffice to say it's an absolute farce. The make the English tabloids seem like the bastion of impartiality and good journalism. They think Real already have Kane and Poch sewn up for the summer and that neither would even consider staying at Spurs when the mighty Madrid deign to come calling. The arrogance is unreal.
