If Sanchez goes to Utd I'll be seriously fucking annoyed. An injection of world class quality into a pretty ordinary team, who we just happen to be competing with.

The only silver lining is what a pathetic excuse for a football club Arsenal have become.
You are forgetting who is manager at Utd, the special one will have Sanchez playing left back within a few weeks.

You know wages are getting silly when Man City think they’re too high
Very true. City are in a position of strength, considering they are nailed on for the title and the squad they have, which is why they aren't desperate to add a 29-year old (30 this year) on astronomical wages only to upset the apple cart and have the rest of their squad (the players who've actually grafted for the title) be paid less than a guy who walks in to the club mid-season and takes some for the honours. They'd be hell on.

For once they've done the right thing. Whereas United and Mourinho are desperate, really desperate. Mourinho hates the fact that Pep is taking all the plaudits and people are obsessing over his squad whereas he's getting flack. He'll do anything, even if that means other players go to the board to demand more money, that's no concern of his, he just wants to get one over Pep, win something and then piss off.

I don't think City really need Sanchez - Sterling and Sane are both much younger and will probably reach at least the same level. For United, Sanchez is a huge upgrade on what they already have.

I’m concerned that all of our top 4 rivals are looking like they are getting even stronger personnel-wise before a busy run in and - say what you like - when you make a top signing it gives everyone a lift.

Liverpool: van Dijk
Arsenal: Aubameyang
United: Sánchez

Those are all top signings, particularly in the short term.

It’s really frustrating. I still think we can challenge for 3rd or 4th place but those players will give all of those clubs a big lift, and we could do without that as we have some catching up to do.

Hope i’m wrong!

It’s really unusual to see deals of this size in January though. Normally we get away with it mid-season because no one else strengthens their first team either.
It is unusual, but the Coutinho deal, and Sanchez’s contract has created a bit of a domino effect.

I’d like us to sign a CM/AM type just to give us strength in depth and options with the CL coming back soon, but there’s not much value around now.

Yeah. We don’t shop in the same market as those teams, sadly.

That said, If we think this Maddison kid can do a job then he cannot be worse than Sissoko! Sometimes that sort of singling can be the most effective.

Liverpool have just lost their best player and Arsenal are about to lose theirs. No guarantee that Van Dijk and, if he even does go to Arsenal which I doubt, Aubameyang will instantly improve either team.

Aubameyang to Arsenal is a dumpster fire waiting to happen. They think Sanchez's attitude is bad? This guy is pushing 30, relies solely on pace to score goals, and clearly has underlying disciplinary issues.

There's a reason no big clubs have been in for him, even that Chinese team pulled out of a deal!

Absolute panic buy, it's like they've quickly scurried to see who's available, to try and cover up the fact that they're selling their best player to Utd for a discount.

I think that it is a very Spurs-tinted view of it. He’s a quality striker, and at 28, still in his prime.

The one who’s pushing the deal is their new head of recruitment, who they poached from Dortmund, who having worked with Aubameyang before would not go for him again if he was a wrong ‘un.

On other hand, coming into this league is hard for strikers, is he prepared to put the graft in at this stage of his career, once you get a taste for ill-discipline it’s hard to shake off.

Ultimately doesn’t address the glaring lack of leadership at the club, .

We've seen first hand how many quality chances per game Dortmund can create even when playing badly. How is Auba going to do the same for Arsenal when he's getting next to no service and isn't settled into the team anyway

good buy for them. they have the money and need to generate some positive energy -- Auba will do that.
Malcom will also do the same.
But once they lose Ozil and Sanchez they will be a bit worse off

Sorry. In no way is United "ordinary." Ordinary teams don't have Pogba, Lukaku, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Ibra, de Gea, etc. The defense might be pretty ordinary as in no big names, but has been doing well (and expensively assembled as well). United are 2nd, and if not for Mourinho's tactics, would be an amazing team to watch.

Yet to be seen. Those two could be amazing. If Malcom shows every other game, he'll still be more consistent than Ozil. Aubameyang is a great player, and is much more direct than Sanchez. I hope you're right, though.

Paul Joyce of The Times in the north says Everton are close to signing Walcott for 20m. Talks yesterday, he said.

With shipping out some of their deadwood like Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Coquelin and now with Sanchez for circa 30m, you'd expect arsenal to strengthen significantly this window.

Wouldn't it be lovely if they didnt? If nothing else for the AFTV meltdown.

Its a shame that someone as talented as Aubameyang is likely to go there but he is seemingly a twat and to be fair is frankly the last of their worries.

Wenger has had a blind spot for defenders for years and that's what's fucking them over. Still gutted we were so meek against them at the Emirates.
