Haven't seem any Norwich games this season, do they play a nice style of football? (unlike Villa)
Even though they have been a bit erratic with results they do try and play some good football. Lots of one two's and pressing the other team when out of possession. Recently they have been playing very well and could have beaten Chelsea in the cup. They are playing this Wednesday In the replay so edwards might be on the bench for that.

Theoretically in terms of his development you'd imagine the plan is 6 months at Norwich where he'll hopefully show his worth, returns and we extend his contract, then a one year loan with a PL team to gather more experience, then he'll return 2019 approaching 21yrs old hopefully ready to be a squad option.
Think that's the best you can hope for, as its really hard to see him suddenly making the bench here next season as I'd imagine we'll make a couple of signings in summer.

The best you can hope for is that he takes the Championship by storm, scores a hatful of goals, gets Norwich promoted. They build a statue to honour his loan outside Carrow Road.

He gets a late call up for England, Sterling get's an injury in the first game and Marcus comes on, totally steals the show and then goes through the tournament in a blaze of glory*

He then demands a place in the first team squad for next season and the rest as they say is history.

Or am I asking for too much?

*England to reach the semi-finals and get knocked out on pens by the Germans

In just the games that Prichard has started, Maddison has more goals and assists than Pritchard in those games.

Also Pritchard is 3 &1/2 years older.

And as I said, Pritchard still has more assists (nearly double) per minute on the pitch:

And Maddison has more goals per 90 and chances created per 90 and one of your favourite stats, sees far more ball per 90.

In your OP you said 'Isn't it kind of ironic if this is a deal linked to us signing Maddison, considering whenever I watched them this season, Maddison looked promising, but Pritchard was better.'

I'm not sure Pritchard only outdoing him when it comes to assists makes him better, especially considering that Maddison is considerably younger as well.

In any case, I'm delighted to see Pritchard make his way to the PL. He always had the ability to do so and I hope he and Huddersfield stay up this season so he gets an extended crack at it.

Good loan for Edwards too. If we sign Maddison it's happiness all round!

Well if we're playing that game ..

Though what all this has to do with Marcus Edwards I'm not sure.

Pritchard is also a good 3 years older, while Maddison has only turned 21 in November.

Bit of an unfair sample size ratio there 8:25, tells us nothing.

Exactly. Given that Pritchard has played 477 minutes, that means he has made two assists this season. For all the numbers and graphs, it is obvious that this doesn't really prove anything at all.

It reminds me of when Giroud would get a couple of goals off the bench in the first few months of the season, and Arsenal fans start banging on about how amazing his goals per minute ratio is.

Back to Marcus! He's got an amazing chance to show Poch what he is missing. I'm hoping he has a storming second half to the season! We can argue all we want about our youth policy, loan Vs reserve squad....but pretty universally we want Edwards to come through to the first team and give us something different [whatever route he needs to take to get there].

I just hope if it doesn't quite work out, he and the fans don't just start thinking he's shite. So many variables on a loan move need to click into place for it to be a success.

And just for the record, again, I also said I am not averse to us picking up Maddison, seems like a very promising, intelligent, young player. But if you compare the stats from When Pritchard had his last full season without major injuries:

It's still a bit an an irony that we seem to be buying the (similar) player we got rid of 3 years ago, possibly for a couple of mill more than we sold him for. And Pritchard also works a bit harder off the ball, which we now Poch values.

Have you accidentally sent the wrong screenshots?

Wasn't Pritchard just terribly unlucky getting ankle injuries every time he got anywhere near the first team?
