Forgive me but as a Welshman this proposed decision simply astounds me. Ryan Giggs did not play in one friendly game for Wales until 9 years (Yes...9 years) after his international debut. Countless times when selected he would withdraw 'injured' only to play for Man Utd in the next league fixture. He showed no pride in either his attitude or performances when playing for his country.

When you think how Gareth Bale would sweat blood in order to pull on the Welsh shirt and represent his homeland it makes this decision nothing short of farcical.

Very, very disappointed in the Welsh FA.

Used to really admire Giggsy as a player but this arrogance that he shouldn't have to drop into the lower leagues to learn is appalling stuff. He shouldn't be anywhere near the Wales job.

Forgive me but as an English man I couldn't give a fuck. Wales can appoint who they like I'll never support them just because they're British or that Bale once played for us. I have no sentiment for any other club or country. I only support Spurs and England.

Totally understandable my friend...you are forgiven...I am the same way...forgive me but as a Welshman I don't give a fuck who manages England..I will never 'support' them either...but as a Brit I will always back any of the home nations against foreign opposition.
Ryan Giggs, however, has no such national loyalty..he played for Wales with reluctance and lethargy, avoiding friendly matches as often as possible. To have him trying to manage the likes of Bale at international level is pure farce.

But he played under a Alex Ferguson SI he’s bound to be a successful manager. Dare I say it, as good as Mark Hughes, Gary Neville, Steve Bruce, Paul Ince. And anyone who thinks diffenerent is a full. Let the stats speak for themselves.

Forgive me but I’m an Irishman and it usually takes 3 of us walking into a bar to make this work.

Yeah, Giggs is a bollocks, but as long as he has Bale fit his job is being done for him. Coleman managed a Euros Semi side but ended up only getting the Sunderland job. The gaffer isn’t what makes Wales tick. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ll get back to waiting for Shane Long to score a goal.

I mean seriously Eriksen, there were plenty of other games to score a hattrick.

And I haven’t forgotten about you ya fucking cheating Gooner French bastard.

International football is a different animal anyway so the fact he has no experience isn't that relevant.

Sad news if true. Great player for Man Utd but he never cared to turn out for Wales.

Still, it's a high profile job for a black manager and that will surely be welcomed.

I too am Irish and know only too well the difficulty of teams from smaller countries having to compete against the bigger countries where football is the major sport. You can only manage what is available to choose from. The so called best managers in the world only win and manage the best teams. They would never achieve the same with weaker squads. Those managers would never accept managing these smaller countries unless there were no jobs available with the best sides. So, yes, if I was Welsh I would hope for a Welsh manager, but at the same time I would be realistic and accept that the primary target would be to try and make the finals and getting to the KO stages being a wonderful bonus.
Like Krule, although my team is Ireland I still will want a UK team to win over any other foreign side.. Unlike you Dougal, I have found it in my heart to forgive Erikson.

I think Sir Alex had a lot of say with Giggs missing friendlies, it wasn't uncommon for the likes of Nevilles, Butt, Scholes and Beckham to miss friendlies due to 'injury' . Bale is just a different kettle of fish.

As for Giggs getting the job it's pretty bad, you'd rather have someone like Hughes with Bellamy working in the background than Giggs who's just been gifted a job
