Sounds great. With Dele, Winks, Kane at least we have a very strong case as to why he should join. I suppose the problem may actually come from a club lower than us as he'd see a clearer path into the team.

Was Dele?
Of course, but Dele is considered one of the best young players in the world, if it was that easy to get a player of his caliber then Dele wouldn't be as special as he is. After all, for every Dele there are a hundred Ravel Morissen's. I'm not saying I'm against it, it's just that tight now I feel like we need that player to take us up a level and we already have a lot of players registered in the squad so we will need to be thinking of sales again at some point.

If he treats all interested clubs in the same manner when it comes to viewing his first team opportunities, then I don't see how he could go to anyone else in the top 6 as an alternative, other than maybe Liverpool.

Hopefully he will look at how we have taken on players and given them all a pretty equal opportunity to stake a claim.

Unfortunately you have to suspect that a few other clubs won't promise him regular football, but will offer a better package.

My point is that he wasn't considered one of the best young players in the world and lots of people questioned his signing. We either take the occasional punt or we (fail to) pay £30m for them a few years later.

I think players like Maddison are made for Poch though.

Not just a kid who's come through the academy who Poch would usually turn his nose up at. He's got experience and done well in competitive games. Seems to be a confident guy and obviously talented. I reckon Poch would give him a chance.

He's homegrown, young and has created more chances than any player in Europe's top 5 leagues. Sounds the perfect backup to Eriksen. I don't see the problem.

Sounds like he has his head screwed on, perfect for Poch. Always got time for a two footed player that seems to be able to drop the shoulder and find a bit of space. The fact City and Liverpool are credited with an interest also suggests he's not that 'under the radar'.

Strange how things can turn out.

Hypothetically I grant, but...

Say we sign Maddison, he gets gametime and does the biz...hooray, another creative type to break down bus parkers.

Meanwhile. ..Edwards is winning rave reviews on loan at Norwich, he too gets called up to the first team squad next season...hooray, another creative type to break down the bus parkers.

Don't try and bring logic to this discussion - very unhelpful.

If we bring in a CM then hopefully the end of Sissoko too. I can see one of him or Lamela being gone anyway with Maddison arriving and this other forward we appear to want. I'd really hope it isn't Lamela who's going to be the casualty though.

You've got it backwards haven't you? The source is people not reading the rules or being idiots. The symptom is that they neg rate the ITKs. If we stopped them doing that they'd still continue to break the other rules they've not bothered reading. We deal with the source by banning them.

Fair enough. But as we've seen several times in this thread alone, accidental negs happen regularly as well. Not having that option would also go towards solving the problem, no?

I like the idea of Maddison but I'm not sure how he is an upgrade on what we have. He will add to the depth, but I feel like we should be looking for players who will improve our attack. I understand it's obviously difficult and expensive to do this, but we have Lamela and Sissoko (who Poch rightly or wrongly rates) so I'm not sure how Mad will get much time unless we get injuries.

I guess I'm not sure how he fits in with this supposed name player who would go straight in that JJ and Herc have alluded to. Unless we are looking to move on Sissoko (which I would be happy with) and/or Lamela (which I really would not be happy about).

The best way to upgrade any squad is improve the weakest player who plays significant minutes. Thats Sissoko for us, who has played 1600 minutes. Madisson can take up the position of Sissoko in squad and prove he is good enough to get more minutes. If Barkley & Willian be ready to play from bench, then so can Madisson. Also we know Dembele's injury woes. While he is perfect for a Eriksen like role, IMO he can certainly play the Dembele or Sissoko role as well.

Don't see why Maddison can't get minutes for us this season. Character wise he looks to have similarities to Dele which is great.

Had Barkley been fit we'd have signed him so surely there's room for another AM?

If he’s concerned about getting playing time with us this season, then an alternative option is to sign him now and loan him back until the summer.

That way, he’s ensured of playing time at Norwich for the remainder of this season and then he will have a full pre-season with us in the summer, thus giving him better chances of getting more game time for us next season.

We've let N'Koudou go out on loan which frees up a squad place.

I think that Maddison would also count as an under 21 player and wouldn't need to take up a squad place this season as he was born after Jan 1st 1996. I might be wrong about that though.

You're correct. Maddison wouldn't need to be registered this season for the league.

If someone can't use the site without their fat finger neg-repping an ITK (and it never seems to be random, it's always always an ITK's post...) then I'm not sure how they manage to hold down a job - "oops my finger slipped and I sent the boss that dodgy video, that's the 5th time this month".

I suspect the number of people really accidentally neg repping someone is far far less than the number who use it as an excuse when they realise it's put them on A&Cs list.

think it means a player choosing to go into one team's first team squad over going into another team's PL2 development squad.
This is true. But what club the size of Spurs or bigger will give him those guarantees? Of course he may be happier to go to a lower ranked Prem team who may offer him more chances of first team football. Then the player will hope he plays well and eventually be snapped up by a top team. As @Hercules mentioned... Lots of clubs are in talks with the player so it comes down to persuading him we're the best option.

In this case I thought the move was from Coventry to Norwich rather than to anyone higher up. So the next move is all important for him - he's had some games, done quite well and now being linked to clubs like Spurs, City and Chelsea. The last two don't exactly have a hot record for playing youngsters, except maybe once then loaning them out, but Spurs do. So if he can impress, maybe he would get a chance.

One plus of using the app: no ability to give neg ratings!
