I dont care personally about what company pays to stick its name on the stadium. What I do hope we avoid however, is the complete monopoly Emirates have with the nomads.

I cant think of that airline now without thinking of Arsenal. It would be nice if Levy can secure the deals to fulfil the multiple partners approach he outlined previously.

I think as a brand Tottenham Hotspur would gain far more from this approach

"So" going for the absolute blinding best deal doesn't always prove to be the best option, as we've seen from the chaotic fallout of Carillion this week.

Levy and the board have proved time and again that whatever decisions they make it is always in the best interests of and reflects favourably on the club, and I see no reason to suggest why this wouldn't extend to establishing the integrity of all our sponsors - current & future.

Assuming that the board wish to increase the global awareness of our club (I can't bring myself to use the term 'brand') as a means to increase revenue then the integrity of our sponsors is paramount - in fact it works both ways when you think about it.

But HSBC worldwide has been involved in some real murky business in North America, South America, South Africa, Europe and the Middle East, and Levy has to be mindful of the risk and impact of such an association. Their association with laundering drug money is particularly disgusting.

Having HSBC emblazoned across our shirts or writ large on the stadium itself? I just think we can do better than this.

Actually HSBC is probably the cleanest bank out there now. They had the Deferred Prosecution Agreement from the US governemnt for the past five years which has now been lifted. The previous CEO made it his main purpose to clean up the bank. All the issues you have mentioned are from a few years ago. They have invested billions in to improving their know your client and controls. They have a strong conduct governance, they actully lead the way for banks in this regard. Appreciate the competition is poor and it is a bit like saying Emma Bunton is the most talented Spice Girl but credit where credit is due.

Also they do avoid sponsoring teams that would impact their customer base. Previous sponsorship are things like an F1 team, British Lions rugby, golf tournaments etc. It would be a real change in approach to sponsor a football club.

Anyway sorry for going off topic!

Who fits in with your moral compass and can afford to pay?

A good starting point would be any global corporation that doesn't launder drug cartel money - that would be a useful red-line.

I mean there's low and there's LOW, and HSBC managed to plumb even further depths.

I feel pretty confident that Levy and the board will have put Company background, their values, ethics, integrity and good and effective corporate governance right at the top of their 'wish list' when sounding out sponsorship.

I'll give them 1 point for not asking the UK government for a bailout in 2007/08 :)

HSBC work with Visa and MasterCard, do you rail against them too?

For a sponsorship deal most money is the primary motivator.

Best deal is the most money. Normal people don’t give a shit about HSBC and what they have or have not done
