That's a shame - one of those players I made myself get excited about after watching Youtube, the ever reliable scouting method. I think he will do well in the Premiership when he makes the move.
Hoping there is something exciting going on under the radar that will freshen us up this window, as there aren't many strong targets linked for once...

It's a sad state of affairs, but have to agree.
Though we have shown there anomalies. It's just whether they will be frequent enough to make this a worthwhile and fruitful strategy going forward still.

I get the impression that we really don't want to miss out on Sessegnon, I certainly don't. I think he is one of our biggest targets.

Yeah maybe we think there is far less risk with Sess compared to Maddison.

things could change between now and the window, depends if Norwich need the money or not
I dont think Maddison would leave at the min anyway to go to a top 6 club, he seems to have his head screwed on and wants to play, i dont think he would leave to sit on the bench, someone like a Southampton might suit him

But if we're baulking at the transfer fee then surely Saints will too?
If he goes to Liverpool for big money then they need to be investigated because they are definitely not operating within their means.
Hopefully we go back in for him in the summer.

Still, here's hoping that previous ITK cryptics and info point to us securing and improving contracts of those already here between now and summer.
Have to also add IIRC, that we'd only really be doing anything this window transfer wise if the opportunity of something too good to turn down at the right price presented itself, or we had to replace an outgoing.
If those we seek are deemed to expensive but available, that doesn't meet all the criteria in the aforementioned ITK.
There's every chance players under the radar are being lined up as we speak.

I’d imagine clubs in the Championship and lower, would look at the £5 million MK Dons got for Dele, who pretty much performed for us straight away, and think they were really taken to the cleaners financially. What’s he worth now? What was he worth after just a couple of months playing at Spurs? Way more than £5 mil I’d bet.
So you can definitely see why Norwich and Fulham would want large fees for Maddison or Sessegnon. As others have said, it’s just the market.

We scouted when he was at Coventry. Norwich got him for 3m...I guess they would want atleast 25m in this stupid market.
Sometimes, we got to take the punt like Dele. But then , its difficult with young players. Not many graduate to the top PL standards. IMO, Maddison will do it in top level...
Having said that, for such a high fee we could get far better talents from else where.

He signed a new contract last year till 2021 with an extra year as an option. This is not updated in the transfer websites.

I feel like there should be a companion song to The Final Countdown called The Neverending Meltdown which A&C and blast when ITK breaks this way in a transfer window.
