I rate Pulisic highly but some of you in here fawn over him like a teenage girl and One Direction!

Is it the American thing? I'd probably take him over Malcom too but I'm not going to be down on this potential signing just because it's not Pulisic. I think both need to be coached and improved further. He was mentioned once on here briefly months ago and could be well out of our range for all we know, or even be keen to stay at Dortmund for now a la Kane with us...

Probably because most saw him play against us and he was extremely sharp.
And that was probably us at our best and most beastly too

To the people discussing that they want a winger with pace, I think there's a different aspect of it. Moving at pace with the ball. N'koudou is very fast but very slow on the ball. Malcom is not as fast but is much quicker on the ball.
Reminds me that Nike (or Adidas?) advertising campaign where they timed players running between cones and then with the ball. Somehow, David Bentley was quicker with the ball.

to me to beat bus parkers you need quick and purposeful ball movers, either dribbling or with pass with clever movement. Think malcom has both in his locker and would be the perfect fit for our squad.

Still won't get my hopes up until I see something official.

Was talking about against bus parkers, their last man is about 15 yards from goal so electric pace is meaningless. For me against bus parkers the way through them is to have players with ability to drop shoulder, a burst of pace to beat a player or two and a threaded pass to runners (Kane, Dele, Son). This is literally what Malcom does.
Yeah I said about Malcom looking most similar to Lamela who isn't always great against bus parkers. The key to him is what's his final pass like in congested matches, I'm guessing he's not had that problem much at Bordeux this season

Honestly can’t see anything for fans to be negative about here.

A young good player with huge potential that is different to what we already have.

These are the type we should be all over like Dortmund do

I completely agree. But spending 35m on what you just described doesn't seem in line with our transfer policy. Maybe that price is just a reality of the market and guaranteeing he's in a Tottenham shirt for a full preseason, but what's that actually worth? That's really my only hesitation. Other than that, can't wait for him to be introduced at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Tottenham eye deal for Bordeaux winger Malcom - sources

LONDON -- Tottenham are interested in signing Bordeaux's Brazilian winger Malcom, sources have told ESPN FC.

The 20-year-old's representatives have held talks with both Spurs and their north London rivals Arsenal this month but the Gunners are no longer interested in a deal, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United's Henrikh Mkhitaryan now both targets to replace the departing Alexis Sanchez.

A source close to Spurs told ESPN FC that the club remain unlikely to add players to the squad this month but Malcolm could sign in January and join in the summer, leaving him free to help Bordeaux's Ligue 1 relegation battle for the remainder of the season.

"Maybe we need to sign players in January and bring them in six months before," Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said in December. "If not, we're going to compete in the same period as City, [Manchester] United, Liverpool and Chelsea -- and we're going to struggle to bring in the players we want."

Pochettino is a big fan of Malcom, who could cost up to €40 million up-front with a further €10m in add-ons, while the player is also reportedly attracted to the idea of working with the Argentine.

Spurs have allowed wingers Georges-Kevin N'Koudou and Marcus Edwards to leave the club on loan for Burnley and Norwich City respectively this month.

Lamela has the skill, but zero acceleration to beat his man consistently.

That doesn’t seem a problem for Malcom. In fact that seems to be his biggest asset.

Watching those YouTube videos, I would say Malcom is predominantly right footed.

It would be patently wrong, but I would say it.

Being reported by the Telegraph now too.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...ites-sign-brazilian-star-malcom-bordeaux-35m/

Tottenham favourites to sign Brazilian star Malcom from Bordeaux for £35m

Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the favourites to sign the Brazilian winger Malcom from Bordeaux for an initial fee of around €40 million (£35.3m).

The 20 year-old was a transfer target this month for Arsenal, with Manchester United having also earlier expressed an interest, but it now appears his most likely destination is Spurs.

It is understood that Malcom’s representatives met with Spurs in London earlier this week to discuss the potential move. Malcom is set to remain at Bordeaux for the rest of this season, before joining Spurs in the summer.

No agreement has yet been formally reached but there is an expectation that a deal will be reached. Spurs are expected to pay €40m although that may increase by another €10m (£8.8m) with add-ons for the highly promising forward.

Be more than that :barefoot:

So if this happens is this going to be a loan back deal or a he will join us on July 1 deal? Like Keita for Liverpool. Additionally, if everything is signed is something we would announce this window? Think the announcement would prove a big boost for the squad and fans.

The squad will know about it regardless.
