This kid really screwed up imo signing that contract with Fulham if they are holding out for around 40mil. Only clubs that are going to pay that are City and United where he would never play.
Fulham developed him, it's only right that they should receive a big fee when he's sold. Also, I bet we would pay £40m, perhaps including add ons, if it came to it. We did for Sanchez, and Sessegnon is by all accounts the most attractive prospect in the Championship.

With Danny Rose knee flaring up again, we need to push this transfer through this window.
No loan backs.

you are right --- there was a middle ground between being loyal to the club and getting your own options stuffed up....should have had a clause that could be activated for say 20 mill for both brothers. Fulham (owned by a billionaire by the way) do well and Sessegnon has real options not just Oil or Manchester or both

We have Davies, KWP, Verts that can play LB. A 17 year old who's never played in the top flight is not going to come in straight at left back.

Yes, but it would have been prudent to keep some leverage so the player has some say in where he goes.
He will not doubt have come to some sort of gentleman's agreement with Fulham that if a club comes in with a big offer he can go, as part of the contract stuff. They'll know they won't be able to hold onto him for much longer, and it's not like they're going to demand a world record fee.

Would you be ok if our youth players insisted on a release clause like that?

Even if he sees out his contract, which obviously isn't going to happen, he will be only 20. Contract is until June 2020.

Malcom plays on the right, sessegnon plays on the left.
Theyre both left footed with fairly similar playing styles, unless we are purchasing Sessegnon with the intention of keeping him as a defender theyd be taking up a very similar role in the squad.

And i cant see us paying that much for a fullback.

They play literally on the opposite sides of the pitch.

They play where they're told to play.
True enough, so I'll rephrase.

Based on all available evidence thus far, and barring a change in where either (but not both lol) plays, they play on opposite sides of the pitch. And not in goal.

Well yes, they're both left footed attacking players. Sessegnon started as a left back but his future is clearly as an attacking midfielder, the same as Malcom. What this means for Lamela is anyone's guess.

do u honestly think he'll be played on his natural side we dont do that with our wingers under poch. I gurentee when he makes his move to the prem with whoever and if he's played in an advanced position, he'll be played on the rightside.

That depends on whether we see him as a wide forward or a wingback. Despite the widely held belief that he will inevitably transition further up the pitch, he has been played primarily as a left back this season and it seems to be the case that we are lining him up as Rose's successor. LWB is one of the rarest and most highly sought-after positions in world football at the moment so he wouldn't be doing his career a disservice by staying there, and they largely take up attacking positions in Pochettino's system anyway.

I don't know. Not all forwards play on the opposite side to their best foot. You could be right.
