This season:

  • Played in 18 league games
  • Starting 16 games
  • 7 league goals
  • 5 assists
  • 5 man of the match awards

At the age of 20

Now I know these could be better but they are still pretty good in my opinion

OK there IS a need for this thread so it's open for business again. If there's ITK it goes either straight into the Read Only or in the Daily ITK Discussion Thread. None of this "oooh go look in the Malcom thread", not everyone sees that, not everyone does that.

People miss out and when its talked about we get a thread full of posts asking what was said.

Up here for thinking, down there for dancing and all that..........

Just to be clear do you want us to copy any ITK from this thread over to the RO and the Daily Discussion Thread in future?

It’s a no from me would rather Demarai Grey or mahrez

I have to say, while Malcolm clearly would be a positive addition to the squad, for an immediate impact in an area where we are clearly lacking Mahrez would be a perfect addition. Teams below 7th know that we struggle to cope with "parking bus" tactics and can look to hit us with long ball counterattacks. Mahrez has a great ability to influence games in the final third against very good defences, has the trickery and work rate, and is not heavily reliant on physical ability. He's 26/27.The list goes on. His contract winding down.

But breaking news : apparently Liverpool in for him - must be some big number based on the Cutinho fee - a neat replacement.

And just how much do you think Mahrez would cost? Fee + wage.

No Moura if we get Malcom? They’re two completely different types of players. Moura - wide forward with lightening speed. Malcom - left footed right sided forward who relies on skill, loves to cut inside, excellent close and long range passer and can shoot from distance.

Malcom has bundles of talent and will add to our quality but he doesn’t fix our need for pace, leaving us reliant on Son. Surely a loan for Moura makes sense? and if he impresses then we look to permanently ship out the deadwood in the summer and/or make space elsewhere eg sell Trippier, promote KW-Peters to Aurier’s understudy/competition. If we get Sessegnon and keep Rose (2 similar players albeit Sessegnon has a potential much higher ceiling) it will be interesting to see what happens with Davies.

I suspect our interest in Moura is limited to a late loan/bargain basement bid. Opportunistic rather than planned.

Lamela, Malcom, Son, Eriksen, Alli, Kane - eventually Edwards.

That's than enough and with a great deal of options and combinations too. I'd also suggest that pace isn't an issue, especially against the bus parkers, it has been the ability to move opposition out of position and move the ball quicker - which I think a 'Modric' type CM will fix.

Malcom will also go some distance to helping as he can draw players out of position with his skill and potential to unleash a rocket from 30 yards.

How the hell do you fit Malcolm, Moura, Son, Lamela, Eriksen and Alli into 3 positions? and that's in 4-2-3-1 (means Davinson Sacnhez and one of Dier/Wanyama sits out). If we're going three at the back again, you only have two AM positions. For six players who all want to start. That's insane.

Malcolm isn't slow, and I don't think pace was our problem. Pace is needed on the counter - we're pretty lethal on the counter regardless. Our problem is parked buses, where pace is useless. We need trickery, creativity, ability to beat your man, long shots - Malcolm ticks all those boxes.

Our problem is two fold, one is breaking down bus parkers and the other is having enough ‘pace’ up top to keep the better sides pinned back. This worked when we had Rose and Walker playing as wing backs but not with Davies and Trippier and to a lesser extent with Rose, Davies and Aurier. It’s better to have a headache with multiple options than it is to not have the necessary personnel to threaten the better sides (our poor record against the top 6 is a prime example of this, this season).

If the deal is agreed for the summer then most likely, I and a lot of Spurs fans will be watching Bordeaux on a weekly basis. Exciting signing but one for the future. Would really like someone to come in this window to help give us an extra push for top 4. Would be amazing to have CL in our opening season in the new stadium. Can't see why Levy/Poch wouldn't want to strengthen in this window. However they have to be the right signing, which I'm sure the club will ensure

.
You can do 3 CBs + 1 DM, which I believe Pochettino is strating to be leaning towards for matches vs. certain teams.

While most teams can't compete financially with the likes of city, utd and Chelsea, we struggle to match the likes of Liverpool and arsenal at least until the new stadium is built so in reality we are the poorer relation amongst the top six it shows how good a job we are doing competing regularly with them.

Sounds bad but I’d like a proven winner. From another team or another league. Someone who is used to lifting trophies. I realise we have 1 or 2 within the squad but I’d like someone who can illustrate to the rest just what it takes mentally.

Malcom may well be excellent (or not), but I wish we were getting him from a successful team and not a struggling one. Hopefully though the guy can be a star.
