I hope we get Sessegnon, but we can't fault Fulham for trying to extract the greatest price possible for him, given that that's exactly what we did with Bale, Modric, Walker, even Wimmer, and would do if anyone came knocking for Alli, Eriksen or, Zeus help us, Kane.

This is the problem. People assuming what they'd accept and getting pissy with the club for not offering it. You said last summer that we should bid £25m, apparently we did and they rejected it.

No. I said it last winter :pompous:.

I have come to terms with the fact that the club isn't going to buy every player I want. In fact it would seem that what I want has no bearing on their decision making process in any way :(. it's almost as if they don't care about the opinions of a bunch of random people on the internet .

still losing out on half his value, whichever way you look at it would have been an ugly example of indecent modern footballing business practices.
maybe. he breaks his leg tomorrow and he's worth 50p. Fulham is going to ride this as far as they can but they too are gambling.

Based on the amount of nostalgic prediction posts, I'd say we're not signing him right now. Back to the Malcolm thread then

From memory we were keen in signing him since the 2016 summer window. We haven't been able to get him over the line and his value has continued to rise.

A point comes when we should walk away. He has an eye for goal and will improve no doubt but we cant pay crazy money for a youngster who still needs time. I suspect this ship might have sailed.

Football is going mad if he’s going for £50 million. More money than sense. If it’s that much there’s no chance we will buy him.
I think they will ask for even more, say 100m if they get promoted and I think citeh or yanited will pay that

I think £25 million is a high but acceptable price £50 million would be way over the top at this point. His contract last until 2020 so Fulham need to be careful the price does not start to diminish after this summer.

I guess it's worth remembering that Luke Shaw cost United £31m when he joined them as an 18 year old back in 2014. Obviously he had Premier League and England experience then, but with the inflation in football over the last few years you can see why Fulham might want a higher amount for Sessegnon.
On that basis whoever buys him will also need to pay over £110k a week. Can anyone see that happening at Spurs?

Whatever we offer is a pittance against the riches Fulham get for being promoted.

If Luke Shaw got that wage 4 years ago, with the inflation in the game how can you reasonably expect the best youth talent around in 2018, with a supposed price tag north of £30m, some quoting £50m to be less than that?

It really doesn't work like that.

He's actually got good agents who put their player first over money last summer. If only more were like it.

Agents don't get a fee for players u18 moving in this country. That's partly why a few (sancho) are moving abroad and the others are staying still.
It was brought in by the fa so that youngsters get more game time by staying at smaller clubs.

They’re not meant to get a fee.
