Because I think Everton were offering very good money for him. I think a lot of the Sliva hype is just that, hype. For the money they were being offered I that Watford could have got someone reasonable in.

Just my onions of course.

He was one of the most highly rated young managers in Europe which is why Everton wanted him and why Watford signed him in the summer. When they signed him a lot of people thought Watford had done brilliantly to get him as he'd been linked with quite a few bigger jobs. I don't think eight million is much compensation for destabilizing an entire season. The difference between finishing 17th (Watford's position last season) and 10th (where they are now) was over £13M last season. And they were higher than that when Everton came calling.

Why would they let a manager go just a few months after appointing him and midway through the season? They weren't to know the impact it was going to have on their season. The manager had a contract and should have said that he was committed to Watford. He's just made himself look incredibly mercenary with his attitude to the Everton job.
TBF this is watford we are talking about

They've had 12 managers since sacking Aidy Boothroyd in November 2008 (soon to be 13). The merry-go-round started well before the Pozzos took over, who since the summer of 2012 have hired and fired 8 managers.

Everton will be pissed
Yeah and also for getting the blame for Watford sacking Silva. Most clubs have to accept that if their manager is doing well and a bigger club has just sacked their manager then they may come sniffing around. No point in blaming the other club if your fortunes start to slide.

They weren’t happy with his response to the approach from Everton. Felt they gave him a great opportunity and at the first opportunity Silva showed his hand.
Tentatively sounded out options as they felt he might be off and sounded out Gracia six weeks ago, were waiting for results to improve but after meetings with senior players and other staff decided they needed to act.
