He is always poor. Why? Because he is poor. He can’t really pass. He’s not intelligent on the pitch. His control is awful. His technique is poor. He doesn’t add goals or assists. He’s defensively inept. His decisions are often poor or safe. He’s not even a 6. He’s a 4, 5 tops. We need 7s and 8s, I thought we had left players of this ability in the past. I don’t even think he’s a Premier League player. I think he’d be much more suited to the Championship.
I agree completely and for a player who says his main strength is pace he's not even that quick! What strengths does he actually have that make him a good footballer?

Of course it is not over until it is over but this result is another nail in our Europa coffin, and it is difficult to see us climbing out with the fixtures coming up.
If we are going to need wins at the likes of anfield and stamford bridge, then it is today's result along with those against wham wbrom burnley swansea that has put us in a near impossible position.

Southampton are a very poor team and looked very shaky when we finally put them under pressure in the last few minutes - too little too late though.

Interesting tactics from Poch.
In a game you need to win with 5 min to go you make a substitution bringing on a dm.
Is this not what you do when you're winning to run the clock down and see out the game?
Oookkaaaayyyyy (y)

And then said dm takes a shot from 30yds booting it into the car park.

Daft.

Imo the problem was you cant stick 3 big fkin lumps in front of the back four and expect a fast moving creative attack.
And why the hell anyone would think thats the way to beat a team in the bottom 3 is beyond me.
What a wasted opportunity.

A poor performance by the lads, we were very lucky in getting a point out df this game. Why does Pch take so long to make a few changes?. Bringing on Wanyama in the 86 minute, does he expect aome quick miracle?.

Bad luck eriksen getting Ill and it’s cost us. Little creativity, very slow movement of the ball and surprise surprise shit result and dropped points. We’re going to have to go on one hell of a run soon to get back amongst it given we’re almost certainties to get beat at Anfield.
Just too many shitty dropped points over the whole season has constantly hung over us.

I am not a great fan of Sissoko but I thought in the second half he was one of our better players. The only others to come out with any credit were Vorm and Vertongen. Even Harry Kane was not his usual self. The rest were dire. The whole performance totally lacked cohesion and intelligence.
The way they were being knocked off the ball, I wouldn't be surprised if some them were going down with the same virus as Lloris and Eriksen. If it's Aussie flu, then we're in big trouble.

This exchange from his press conference was interesting. You can tell he’s pissed off.

Had any of the players out there today been ill?

Yes

So it was a tough game for them, not feeling physically right?

Yes, but it is not an excuse. The draw is not because we were tired or had some problems.

Did they pick it up before you were away in Barcelona?

No, before.

May I ask who else had it?

No, because they are ok. I am not giving to give names of course.

Well, he might know something we don't, ie, that they're not well and he thinks they might lose the game.

The thing is he didn't put in a shift today, he goes forward with purpose with the ball but hardly tracks back. He let Bertrand overlap and was out of position for their goal.
Hey, don’t let actual facts blind you’re judgement.

As some actual punk said earlier, we are all just plebs with invalid opinions. Only people involved in the Premier League have a valid opinion. You’re wrong and that’s it. Despite your facts. Wrong. You pleb.

Perhaps, because their position is not a true reflection of their ability as a team.

This is the kind of incisive, erudite reasoned observation that makes Spurs Community Match Day threads just that cut above the usual fan forum drivel...:D

Look, I understand the frustration but it's not that surprising.

Poch's attacking philosophy - especially against a stacked defence - is all about attrition. About controlling the game in midfield and forcing scoring opportunities by overwhelming possession. The DM's and CB's control possession and feed/recycle the ball over and over to the Front 4 until they score.

Bringing on Llorente would have meant opening the game up on the flanks - and therefore to the counter and ceding possession. Poch did as Poch usually does - he brought on Wanyama which freed Sissoko to play a much more aggressive role running at the offence. It kinda worked - Lamela and Kane should have scored the winner. And Poch wasn't going to have missed the fact that Southampton had already had several good chances on the break against us - he was NEVER going to increase that risk by bringing on Llorente and opening the game up even more.

You don't have to like what Poch does but we shouldn't be surprised by it. It's not like he's just arrived - this is what he's done since forever.

Even Newcastle fans think Sissoko is shite. :(

One of those most curious cases I’ve ever witnessed in football. It’s like some sort of experiment that needs ending. The crazy thing is - it seems like there’s no end to it. Even if we sign a midfielder who can actually play football this month, I’d bet we’d still see Sissoko being shit and adding nothing most, if not every week.

It’s just strange. A few things Pochettino does are just odd. Substitutions being the main one. He’s done great with us and I love the fella, but he’s by no means perfect.
