To be fair to the guy he's going to look even worse with Dier and Dembele next to him. Game slowed to a bloody standstill.

I'm not one for the ritual and over the top ****ing off of a player but FFS sell him. We have others in line to scapegoat and his continued presence is letting them off the hook.

Don't get me wrong, Vertonghen, Davies and Vorm were the only players yesterday to emerge with any kind of performance, maybe a 7 at best. But I can't help but think dembele and Alli, as shit as they were, would have preferred not to have the human shadow as an option.

They were absolute shite, with Dier too, but it's like he's petrified of the ball. Hiding in case the ball ever came near him, miscontrolling and trying the most safe of passes every single time.

We don't need a right winger who's first instinct is to get the ball and immediately go backwards every single time, unless absolutely forced to try something going forward. We haven't even seen these lung bursting powerful runs that he's apparently good at. I'm not even that mad at him, he's just so out of his depth it's no wonder he's petrified. The fact he is our most used player is the real mystery.

He has one goal and one assist I believe in the league this year. Great ball for Kane at Burnley and a finish of the maximum of fuss against Huddersfield. He brings next to nothing to the team on a weekly basis and my main issue is he never looks like he might.

As bad as dembele and Alli were, you at least have it in your head that Alli could score aworldy or produce something from nothing. Alli has disappointed this season but his numbers are still up there, he's contributing. Sissoko isn't.

Now Dele has been putting in some real turd performances of late.., but I can’t shake the feeling that he, along with some of or other attacking players (bar the freak Kane) would look a little better if there was a real threat on the pitch making space and providing incisive passing and running rather than Sissoko. That’s not to absolve him of anything but a player like that needs the space provided by intelligent teammates to work properly..

Sure, Sissoko has looked good-ish in some of our biggest games where he can get his gallop on, and so he has a use in this squad if we’re keeping him (which it looks like we are). It’s just asking for trouble if he’s played with the other of our more ponderous midfield players and it brings out the worst in all of them. It’s not that he’s in our squad that’s the issue but that he’s being used way too often in games he’s entirely unsuited for.

But I wouldn’t feel too sorry for him like some others, he’s paid a lot to play nearly every week for a top club, we can probably count his truly impressive performances on one hand and one of those was because he was very good at taking the ball repeatedly to the corner flag..

So it's Sissoko's fault for others playing badly now too? Anything else you want to blame on him?

Don't like him as a player. My least favourite Spurs player for a long time, dwarfing such players as Townsend and Bentaleb in my disamusement.

Not sure why it’s so controversial to suggest that he might not be the best fit in certain games and formations and that in turn hampers other players.. as I say he’s not the only one and it is the manager picking him of course.

I'm liking this post.

I feel it maybe highlights alot of posters frustrations with Sissoko, without the need to call him a wan*er, a retard, shit or to f*ck off.

So the new trend is to blame Sissoko for Alli, Dembele and Dier playing shite.
If our new stadium cannot be delivered on time for the new season, I know who to blame for the delay now.

The footballing equivalent of the third wheel. He's not bad, per se, but his continued presence on the pitch shows our struggles.

That he stays on for the full 90 minutes is a worrying sight, and does raise a question or two about what Poch is thinking.

My most worrying feeling is that Sissoko is settling into a frame of mind where he just doesn't want to make a mistake, so the passing is basic and often backward, he doesn't want to be caught out of possession, he doesn't want to try anything that is not a high percentage play (not saying he can pull off riskier passes/decisions, but if you are selected as the fourth most attacking player on the pitch you cannot be as offensively effective as David Batty).

We easily slip into slow, stodgy football, and Sissoko is a compounding factor in that. I cant see what negative effect starting Lamela, and replacing him after 70 mins with Edwards, Onomah, hell even Georgiou would have had on the game yesterday.

I think that fans' frustration at the player has been wrongly targeted towards him when it should rightly, for this (Sissoko's) case, be aimed at the person that persistently plays him when other better players are available.

If it perplexes some of us why he gets contually picked to play then imagine how the other players feel about it and how it affects their view of the manager.
Whenever I've played in a team it's always obvious who the best are, the battlers, the ones who shy away from responsibility are, and of course who the plain incompetent are. Same in a workplace, we all know who the grafters are and who are the manager's favourites, not based on merit.
With Wanyama and eventually Winks back hopefully sissy won't play another game for Spus and will be flogged off next summer.

So now we have people running to protect Sissoko by slating other players who played poor yeaterday? Oh wow.

I think the point is his performance Saturday was far from the worst. Yes he's been a bit of a disappointment but all this bashing for any reason gets old. If you're angry about Saturday why not criticize the ones most responsible?

Not gonna slate him or those who signed him after a good tournament, but the sooner we get rid and bring in fresh blood the better
in my onion.
