Nobody is saying that. But it will generate a lot of media interest around the world and I don't believe that being known as "the club with that North Korean kid" is particularly high on the list of things Levy and potential sponsors will want our brand to be associated with.

I think that's a bit strong, I don't for one minute think every single North Korean is a bad person, it could easily be spun to our advantage. I would of course draw the line at state visits from North Korea lol.

I don't know...the only similar situation that comes to mind is a bunch of Russians coming over during and at end of the cold war to the Detroit Red Wings and that didn't hurt them a bit. They were embraced by almost all fans and didn't hurt the Red Wings with sponsors. In fact, Fedorov was so good he became a fan favorite of many. I think you angst is unwarranted. What would be more interesting would be his relationship with Son. That could be bad or fantastic.

I don't think everyone from North Korea is a bad person either and have never said anything of the sort, that's not even remotely the point I was trying to make.

All I'm saying is, North Korea, or more correctly it's regime, is pretty much top of the list of bad guys as far as most of the world is concerned and being associated with them even a little bit can't possibly do anything good for our brand, especially in the USA, which has obviously been identified as a key market for us. And like I say, if a PL club signs a North Korean player it will be all over the news everywhere so you won't be able to just slip him into the team subtly.

Given the way their government seems to operate, if he plays even one match for us, there'll be all sorts of propaganda clips, posters, and so on of him being the "glorious hero" etc. and presumably showing him in a Tottenham shirt, which will also feature our sponsors. I can't imagine, for example, Nike wanting their logo all over North Korean government propaganda and what not.

Again, I'm not for one second saying he or any other North Koreans are bad people (well some of them probably are) but unfortunately the country is only seen in a negative light and sponsors, advertisers etc. will not in any way shape or form want to be associated with it. I'm not saying that's right, that's just the way the world works.

Anyway, for all kinds of reasons there's no way in hell this transfer happens so it doesn't really matter at the end of the day

Not really the same though. By the time Federov etc. came to the US the Soviet Union, while not officially "over" had been basically done for years to all intents and purposes and there were already a lot of people from the USSR living and working in America perfectly happily. If you lived in New York, Chicago etc. it's wouldn't have been "weird" to know someone Russian, but how many westerners can say they've ever met a North Korean? And besides, while many atrocities were committed in the USSR, they never had quite the same stranglehold and complete brainwashing of its people that North Korea does.

Anyway, like I say, I very much doubt this will happen anyway so it's not that important.

Are you really qualified to make that as a statement of fact? An opinion perhaps, but to state it as you have? If he had the potential to be a good player then I don' think all the other bollocks matters. From what I've read he is doing quite well in Italy. Hence the raised profile and scouts looking.

Given that you've brought it up in the first place, you obviously know that it's just my opinion, so is there really any need for snide comments "calling me out" about it? I thought it was fairly obvious that I'm not Daniel Levy so I didn't think I'd have to put a disclaimer in my post just in case anyone mistakenly thought I was  Just because someone doesn't preface everything with "In my opinion,..." doesn't mean they're trying to claim something is a known fact so I'm not really sure why you're trying to make out like I'm claiming to be ITK somehow

Chill dude. Wasn't meant to be snide. Just poor delivery perhaps. I don't think he'll be signed either and it's interesting reading about people' thoughts, given the seemingly complex nature of North Koreans. However, I think total dismissal of it is premature and all the surrounding issues would probably be meaningless if spurs (or anyone else)wanted him. You just state it like its fact. Thats all. Kim jong hasn't invaded Italy and declared nuclear war on any team the lads not scored against. So i dont really see any differemce if he ventured to uk shores. Assuming he'd get past immigration checks anyway.

Peace and love brother. X

I’d like us to sign him because he’d guarantee us the league, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, World Cup, World Club Cup, La Liga, Bundesliga, Super Bowl, World Series and a 38-under par round of golf, every season.

For the first time we’d have more deluded fans than either the gooners or the bindippers!

Aren't the 2 Koreas sending a joint team to the Olympics, though? Or did I mishear that one?

Not entirely - but they are walking in together in the opening ceremony under a single flag and they are fielding a joint ice hockey team. I believe for other sports they have separate teams/individual entered.

It'd be the most spursy thing ever if us signing Kwang-Song Han was then indirectly funding the North Korean missile tests via a chunk of his weekly wage

Would still annoy me less than when we were paying Adebayor’s wages when he was at Palace

I actually wouldn't mind it happening. I'd go down in history as being someone who funded their country's weapons of mass destruction via me buying Spurs tickets
