as Jimmy Greavies used to say "it's a funny old game Saint"!

no guarantees in football, other than your expectations to always expect us to fail.

no one knows what will happen, we have 3 tough games coming up, but still have 9 winnable games as well as 2 other tough games. lets wait till have very little chance, before we say we don't have any.

oh and Arse signing Mikhataryan and Aubameyan doesn't guarantee improvement when they have just lost their star player. Chelsea are struggling to buy a striker, no guarantee they will have it as easy as they did v Brighton and they still have 4 tough games left this season
And Swansea beat Liverpool tonight

Tonight's result was a massive shock. Good for us but we need to focus on ourselves. Do the best we can and if it's still not enough so be it.

So where are all the doomsdayers from yesterday?

We are balls deep in the race for the top 4. We will drop points along the way but so will others.

Don't stop believing!
Still here.
And still think we've no chance.
Liverpool lost but that doesnt change the fact that we were awful, put out a shit team selection and Poch keeps playing bloody Sissoko.
Unless the last 2 of those things change imo we'll drop away.
On the other hand IF we stop making ridiculous decisions and play at our best we can beat anyone on our day bit I'm not confident that'll happen.
And I think we'll see both Arsenal and Liverpool strengthen with new signings this window. We wont.
Was always gonna be tough getting rop 4 at Wembley anyway.
I just think were not helping ourselves with bad tactics going toe to toe against City, and poor subs, selection etc.
Whats annoying is we are far better than we're showing. Thats whats pissing people off.
I knew that was 2 or 3 points dropped on Sunday as soon as I saw Sissoko, Dier and Dembele in the middle together. Slow as fk with no creativity. Cant understand what Poch was thinking. Not like we havent seen Dier and Demble together before. Add Sissoko and... shittt.

Yeah it will still be very tough, and I'm talking if we beat United and Arsenal still as if we lose to Liverpool we have to hope they slip at somewhere and from their next few games I think Saints away looks the one where they may slip up but that's obviously not a given.

We may need them or Chelsea to fall into a bit of a slump. United will still find ways to wins even if playing fucking shit IMO.

An apology:

In the aftermath of an incredibly disappointing result, I admittedly reacted in a knee jerk, petchulant and "being a dickhead" way.

The frustration got the better of me and for that I can I only apologise. I've let you guys down, my family down, spurs down but most of all, myself down. I don't expect to be forgiven but I wanted to acknowledge my behaviour.

The belief is back after yesterday's result and hopefully we can kick on now.

That said, if Sissoko ever plays another 90 mins for us I can't be held accountable of my actions...

We should play Llorente at Anfield with Kane playing free. Sit deep, hit them on the counter and set pieces. Got to be pragmatic.

Would like to see us being a bit more reactive to our opponents in these type of away games as opposed to us just setting out as we usually do. It's actually getting to the point where I'm tired of watching us face these other big teams away from home, just seems like the same story too often.

I don't get how we can set up in such a solid fashion away to Madrid and have it work so well, seemingly looking like a blueprint to playing these big teams away to never setting up like that again.

You have to question whether we will even show up at Anfield. We've been to Old Trafford, The Emirates and The Etihad so far this season and not shown up at all on any of those occasions.

Don't rule out Liverpool further strengthening their squad in January, with the balance of the Coutinho fee burning a hole in their pockets.

Poch is tactically naive in some games (City away, Liverpool away last year). I love him, but that's what he needs to work on.

You can't play high intensity pressing football every game, you have to be pragmatic sometimes.

The weird thing being he nailed it in the CL this season, but has not learned in the PL.

We were also missing Wanyama, Alderweireld and Sanchez at City, but I agree we set up wrong.

Our away record in big games as a club generally, and under Poch also, is appalling, but I don’t know if pragmatism is the answer.

Klopp plays the same style every game, home or away, and his record in the big 6 matches is exceptional.

Which is because his style of play is suited to playing big teams that like to take chances building from the back. City gave them ammo, Swansea didn't. I'd hardly call our games vs Madrid and Dortmund pragmatism either.
