In my mind getting Malcom but loaning him back is just not good enough business from the club if we want CL again next season. Mind you we could yet go on and win it!

So buying a player that won't play for us until next season is unlikely to help us this season? Good to know Michael Owen posts here ;)

There is more about this on the new stadium thread.
They have mistakenly bolted the new goal posts on top of the south stand.
Don't worry - the guy with the big angle grinder has made them fit.

I love the transfer window. It's such a great time to be a Spurs fan.

Easily a fixture in the top 5 in the country, challenged for the title the past two seasons, in the last 16 of the Champions League this season, several of Europe’s best players in our squad, yup sir I make you absolutely right! I guess you also remember the 90s as well as I do. We survived it together man!

Oh, wait...

More seriously, yes JJ’s news sucks but this is why we shouldn’t count our chickens until they hatch, it leads to frustration and disappointment. Best to just focus on what happens on the pitch, be glad that we receive information from time to time and let the rest unfold.

and on what basis do you make that judgement?

To me moving goalposts could just as easy be timescales.

Only those in the know like JJ and Herc can state actual reason
Its an opinion mate, hence the 'to me' part, I wasn't stating it as fact.
Besides, when has 'moving the goalposts' not been about financials?

We can’t complain too much. Our chairman has the reputation of being the most awkward negotiator in football. Ferguson thought twice about trying to sign Modric when he realised he would have to deal with Daniel again. He’d had enough after Berbatov. Didn’t we move the goalposts when we got Lloris.

Thank you for the info ITKs. If we want Malcolm Bordeaux can make us work for him. Surprise surprise

This probably happens to all teams bar the moneybags just you don't hear of it. We have no idea what's happened yet. We obviously have other targets as all clubs do.

True and I suppose if you don't buy a ticket etc etc.

They key is that whilst we are going for the unrealistic targets who will only come off 1 in 20 times, we need to also have more realistic backup targets, and I think that's where we sometimes fall down in our dealings.

While I suspect you have a point, would that have stopped us from even considering Davinson Sanchez?

Yes this is very true.

As I've just said above, I actually think the key is having sensible backup targets if our ambitious targets don't come off.

No problem with going for ambitious targets but we need to be aware that we will very often be blown out of the water by richer clubs, and it often feels like when that happens we don't have other options.

Exactly, you would think we are in the conference the way some moan on here.
