Yes this is very true.

As I've just said above, I actually think the key is having sensible backup targets if our ambitious targets don't come off.

No problem with going for ambitious targets but we need to be aware that we will very often be blown out of the water by richer clubs, and it often feels like when that happens we don't have other options.

Worth checking the Malcom thread for a media link if you haven't already.

This is why I am becoming very sceptical about posting, as meltdowns, and DCI’s overdrive, and recently inadvertent sarcasm.

I will not comment on JJ’s comments, and will not even hint. So what I am about to enlighten, do not try to tie anything into Malcom!

Moura not dead, though very complicated, beyond financials.

Ajax, i already mentioned a while back we have 2 in mind, and one being young Kluivert, and the other we now know who that is. We have an interest in another, as well as a young striker in Germany. That particular one is dependent on him not signing a contract with his present club, and has less than 2 years remaining on his present one.

Aside from Kluivert, who we have verbal agreement, the others are in discussions for a long while. I have a feeling they are our contingencies, and told there is 2 names that has not come out yet.

There is a big one from La Liga we amongst others are trying to do. I will count that one very unlikely, but you never know.

I rate unlikely on any deals this month. But we are trying hard to tie down for summer. Problem is both agents and selling clubs do not want to commit, which will see prices escalate again. Deals are becoming commercially challenging to say the least. It is not about the financials neither, but the package.

Sissoko wants to go back to France. Please God:censored:

Easily a fixture in the top 5 in the country, challenged for the title the past two seasons, in the last 16 of the Champions League this season, several of Europe’s best players in our squad, yup sir I make you absolutely right! I guess you also remember the 90s as well as I do. We survived it together man!

Oh, wait...

More seriously, yes JJ’s news sucks but this is why we shouldn’t count our chickens until they hatch, it leads to frustration and disappointment. Best to just focus on what happens on the pitch, be glad that we receive information from time to time and let the rest unfold.

We shouldn't count our chickens until they sign for someone else would be more apt.

I can understand selling clubs not wanting to commit now. Why should they when they might be able to get more in the summer. If we want them now then we have to pay more. It's understandable.

Thanks for passing on though. I wasn't expecting anything this window, but live in hope that we would bolster the squad. The summer is more likely but we need the players in early. Although that's pretty unlikely with the World Cup etc taking place.

Cheers hercs, also i love the bit about sissoko to france, .. dont bordeax want him haha . The young players sound great piece of business, although with our rivals buying big players that instantly improve , add quality plus experience, is ideally what we need at this point, and fully understand is extremely diff to get a player like that. We need another sonny, maybe an even faster one would be perfect.

Thanks for the info as always!

Not surprised things are tough, players, clubs and agents seem super keen on a massive pay day right now, especially from PL clubs.

Kluivert, Neres and Arp all look very good so I'm happy with that scouting at least. Possibly De Jong being the other one.

Interesting there is something in Moura, but again complications don't bode well for Spurs. The big one from La Liga sounds interesting, but again won't get any hopes up there.

Will be disappointed if we don't strengthen this window, but at least I'm primed for it now. Still plenty of potential above though for the summer.

However bad we think he is If we were to get shot of Sissoko we would have to bring in a signing this window.

looks like no deals this month, everyone else around us improves, we do nothing
Doing deals for summer is pretty pointless really, so many things change its hardly worth the paper its written on

Potentially cheaper and less competition than the summer.
Player gets as full a preseason as possible.
Avoids potential negatives of missing out on CL.
Gives club a boost and shows ambition.

Yep, pointless.

(Assuming it's announced a la Naby Keita/Dele Alli)

Appreciate the update. I know how the meltdowns must frustrate you guys. Good to know we are targeting the Ajax boys as I do believe these are great choices and a lot of Brazilians rate this other option more than Malcom (although I prefer Malcom personally).

I have a la liga player in mind and I so hope it's him but that's certainly far reaching.

It's the hope that kills. Especially when we have heard for years this time it will be different and I suspect we will continue to hear that for years more...

See you all on the 31st of August. Same old nonsense.
Except this year the transfer window ends much earlier than that.

Is Sessegnon dead, or is that other ITK's reference?

Having a hard time following all the rumours.

Anyway, our squad is good and we don't lack anything particular but it would be a nice boost to the squad and the fans if we landed 1 player this window.
