Potentially cheaper and less competition than the summer.
Player gets as full a preseason as possible.
Avoids potential negatives of missing out on CL.
Gives club a boost and shows ambition.

Yep, pointless.

(Assuming it's announced a la Naby Keita/Dele Alli)
but these deals rarely happen, i would imagine that Herc is talking about verbal agreements rather than anything announced and nailed on

Every top team strengthening and then there's us. It's tiring being a spurs fan seeing rivals bring in world class players then there's us just aiming for cheap youngsters. We really need to bring in a world class player or two now to put pressure on the likes of alli and Eriksen etc.
Cheers for the info though Hercules, least it sounds like levy and Co aren't sat around doing F All.

looks like no deals this month, everyone else around us improves, we do nothing
Doing deals for summer is pretty pointless really, so many things change its hardly worth the paper its written on

Only deals of any significance are VVD to Liverpool at a completely ridiculous price for a player of his limited ability and the Sanchez/ Miri swap. Nothing else that I know about. Arsenal certainly haven’t strengthened but I think Man U definitively have.

Sess not dead, but price becoming crazy to almost ridiculous. I personally believe his advisers cut a bad deal on his contract with Fulham. We have to see where that goes.

It's the hope that kills. Especially when we have heard for years this time it will be different and I suspect we will continue to hear that for years more...

Except this year the transfer window ends much earlier than that.
yep especially as it had all been really positive from JJ as well, now looks like zilch.....again

I believe this year it will be different, because the consequences are unthinkable from a Poch > star players :barefoot::barefoot:

I'm confused by this - are you suggesting if Poch doesn't get the players he wants he's gone or that we should back Poch over a star name?

Man U have
Scum potentially aubameyang and they have swapped one top player for another
Liverpool at the moment are weaker
Chelsea looking like 2 in from Roma and Barkley so far

It's quite an obviously worded statement that we need to back Poch and show our ambition to the players.

not convinced on Malcolm anyway. looks like a n'jie mk 3. very good At dribbling but end product isn't there

He is much better than Nkoudou and Njie, for starters his technique and close control are in another league. He also has far superior playmaking abilities and vision.

He has very good end product for such a young player playing in a poor team: 7 goals and 5 assists in 20 league games is good going in a poor side.

He has matched last seasons goal and assist tally already (last season 7 goals and 5 assists in 37 league games).

But more importantly his close control with the ball is good, even at pace, he has good positional intelligence, drifting inside to link up play as well as going wide at times. His picks people out with clever passes and shows good vision with these.

Bed wetter tuesday is upon us.

All this talk about how we're shit at signings and blah blah blah "I'm sure lessons will be learnt again blah blah blah", go through every single prem teams transfer record and say they never sign players that don't work out or that they never miss out on targets. Do it now if you really think our record is worse than other teams.

If we hadn't of been so lucky to have got info from hercs most would have known fuck all about malcom and now we're meltdowning because negotiations that none of us understand about said player we didn't know existed aren't going as planned.

I think DL et al need to come to grips with the new age of prices a bit more quickly.

the club are taking a big gamble without strengthening this window, if we fail to get into the top 4 our summer targets will no doubt look less likely
