I think DL et al need to come to grips with the new age of prices a bit more quickly.
Yeah - but I would not spend that kind of money on Sessegnon - we need to spend that kind of money on proven players - even if there is no selling payoff down the road. We have a small window here and we need players now - not for the future.

Is Sessegnon dead, or is that other ITK's reference?

Having a hard time following all the rumours.

Anyway, our squad is good and we don't lack anything particular but it would be a nice boost to the squad and the fans if we landed 1 player this window.

Would probably still pass a West Ham medical

Only deals of any significance are VVD to Liverpool at a completely ridiculous price for a player of his limited ability and the Sanchez/ Miri swap. Nothing else that I know about. Arsenal certainly haven’t strengthened but I think Man U definitively have.

Liverpool will massively improve Liverpool and they will challenge us all the way. The fact he cost alot doesn't mean shit.

Granted Arsenal has lost quality but they have replaced with quality. And if they manage to sign Aubameyang....well.

Chelsea also look close to signing Dzeko along with another 20m FB. That strengthens them hugely.

Sanchez will be mega for Utd. He'll win them shit.

You can spin it all you like. I get it's difficult but we are standing still.

I'm a big fan of how Levy runs the club but I suspect we might regret not investing more heavily, and better, in the last couple of seasons, when we were competing for the title and in the CL, one of which isn't happening this year, and the other is looking precarious for next year. There was a period when City, United, Liverpool and Arsenal were all getting their houses in order, and we had a great opportunity to push on. It's going to feel pretty hollow if we move in to our new stadium without CL football, and possibly having sold one or two players. Surely we need to push the boat out to improve this window.

I'm sure I'll get hammered for posting this but I'm having a shit day, so feeling pessimistic.

Always love how everybody doubts ITK until it's something negative when suddenly the world comes to an end.

These things always take twists and turns and we're not the sort of club that bends over and lets selling clubs just name any price like City, Utd & Liverpool seem to do. Can you imagine if we just stumped up the extra cash every time a transfer was near completion. Suddenly we'd be paying £75m for mid-table defenders or £35m + crazy wages for players with 6 months to go on their contract...

With all the new money coming in (not a hint), and say for example, we set a spending budget for transfers, just to keep it simple. We now agree to spend 300m on 4 players. The averages price was say 50m. Within few days, the average price increases to 90m for same per player. Ofcourse we will not be spending 300m. What I am trying to show everyone, is the very healthy budget we have set aside; and been carefully planned to coincide with new stadium move, becomes challenging to not look so healthy.

One particular club, who I won’t mention, want full price upfront, and another wants 75% down, with balance paid over 18 months.

Who are we going to blame for this? There are no secrets (if there ever was) anymore. It is shark-world out there.

Am I still optimistic? Yes! Why? Because one very key individual in our recruitment is very, very cute. Contingencies are good, just need to be very creative and cute.

Thank you for the insightful update (y)

My worry is if we don’t complete some of these deals how much longer will Poch stay ? If he goes what will then be the attraction of coming to Spurs when others can always beat us on fees and salary ?

Goes to show you can have a very strategic plan in place but it only takes a greedy agent or club who change their selling price to completely scupper that.

Wouldn't be the first with that worry. A&C and Herc (and I believe The Goat, as well) have mentioned it.

I don't think DL is a dumb dumb, so I expect a good bit of business to get done this summer.

I would expect a bit of business now to compete with the other teams around us for a CL place.

If we're in the EL the summer business will not be easy
