Glad Priestland is injured as I bet Garland would play him. Owen Willlians maybe. Or Patchell.

Forgot about Anscombe.

Christ I was letting myself get optimistic as well.

From the little I've seen of Scarlets this year I'd play Patchell.

Williams is a bit all over the place. Capable of moments of brilliance but an absolute liability at times as well.

You’d think he wouldn’t play Williams seeing as he’s so green and the only experience he’s had at this level is at 12 in the Autumn. Smart money would be on Anscombe but I agree with you I’d play Patchell there. They can’t use the he’s a 15 excuse as so is Anscombe and whenever I have seen Patchell at 10 he’s been good but whoever he picks is going to be inexperienced.

I think Williams has been playing a fair bit at 12 for Gloucester this year as well. Maybe they'll both get a game considering the injury pile-up.

On a more general point the rugby authorities are going to need to look at the issue with injuries soon. It's been absolutely insane this year (not just for the brittle Welsh) and it does seem quite coincidental that the injuries are coming thick and fast after the changes in the laws that seem to mean more contacts and more time with the ball in play (let alone the slightly ludicrous schedule).

England have 22 players injured and the tournament hasn't even started.

Looks like it will be something like:

Mako, Hartley, Cole, Launchbury, Lawes, Itoje, Underhill, Simmonds, Youngs, Ford, Farrell, Joseph, May, Watson, Brown
Subs: George, Hepburn, Williams, Kruis, Mercer, Care, Lozowski, Solomona

Which isn't an awful team on paper, and gives some opportunities for players to stake a claim.

Webb now out for Wales as well.

Think Wales have been using the same physicians as Quins.

Mind you if I was Webb I'd tell the Welsh RFU to go and screw themselves anyway.

Still a good but certainly weaknesses, particularly in the back row, and not the same strength coming off the bench at all which is a worry because that's where England have been strong under Eddie.

I can't believe Solomona is anywhere near the squad to be honest. Plus Slade will definitely be in the 23.

We're playing Italy. We really shouldn't a game-saving bench. Against Wales, yes, but a few might be back by then.

Yeah Italy will be fine but most of the injuries are longer term than that.

Mind you we can't blame injuries against Wales anyway as most of the population is injured for them.

As said, Slade is injured.

If Te'o isn't back ready then one of Solomona, Earle or Mallinder will be on the bench going on the squad selected.

We could really do with Te'o. Just having one back with a bit of oomph could make the difference.

I'm very worried about this England team being underpowered.
