The emergence of Dele Alli at Tottenham Hotspur has been nothing short of remarkable. Alli has averaged around a goal every three games since he made his debut for the club two-and-a-half years ago.

"What’s Wrong With Dele Alli?"

Not sure there's too much to be concerned with. He's playing worse I guess but he's creating more than scoring compared to last season.

I think its less whats wrong with him, but whats wrong with the way he's employed in a game.

He's a percentages player. He'll keep trying the flicks/tricks/chips etc in the hope it'll come off... quite often it doesn't, but at least once or twice it will and when it does its usually decisive. Last season he was effectively a second striker, but this season he sort of floats across the 3 in between centre mid and forward. As such his impact is reduced.

I personally think Dele is ultimately a box to box player... when he plays that role he is very involved in the game. However he can be devastating as a striking foil to Kane. But having him be nowt nor something effects his game.

Teams have adapted to him and know what to expect. He's dropping deeper these days to try to find some space which makes him less effective in the goals department.

Big 2nd year, its the year after the breakthrough year. Happens to most players, their mindset changes on the 2nd year thinking they dont have to try as hard as it was almost easy. He'll be fine next season.

dont worry.

edit. ah ok, I get it, you were being pedantic.

No literally what you wrote is wrong and doesn't make sense, hence me correcting you. If it's meant to mean something else then fair enough but you can see why people will get confused.

Surely this season is two years after his breakthrough year though, not one? 2015-16 was his 'breakthrough' year.
