I'm proper excited by this! When was the last time we spent significant money in January? Was it Keane back in 2009?
Defoe too, I think. That's almost ten years!Think it was. We got Palacios in the same month.
Keane, Defoe and Palacios (and Cudicini). Remember being so bloody excited that window!I'm proper excited by this! When was the last time we spent significant money in January? Was it Keane back in 2009?
Just looking at his goals makes me positive. He scores quite a lot of them inside the box after clever movement. If most of his goals were screamers from 30 yards, I'd be more sceptical, seeing as doing the simple goals repeatedly requires intelligent movement and understanding, and is more sustainable than going on a hot streak with low percentage shots.
I really wanted Keane back. What a let down that was.Keane, Defoe and Palacios (and Cudicini). Remember being so bloody excited that window!

Be good to get a pacey, tricky little bastard in our attack.
pacey, yes - but trickery? Is he that skillful? just curious. Haven't seen much of him.
Why? At the price they’re talking we’ve absolutely nothing to lose.Would prefer a loan. Has hardly played and has got a lot to prove but I guess if the permanent price is cheap enough.......

That's a sensible strategy. Think it's hard to pass up on Moura for £23m and hopefully will allow us more flexibility for other players (a midfielder i'd hope). What you have to understand is that January is no different to the Summer as far as our approach to transfers are concerned. It's very much about value, and not wasting whatever budget we have on one player which would impact our other dealings. Traditionally January valuations would have had a significant knock on effect to the following Summer budget, which is far more important as far as squad building is concerned.
I think his close control is actually pretty good when he's running normally. Obviously when he's going top speed he's going to kick the ball in front of him and catch up - otherwise he would have to go slower. Bale also kicks the ball in front and catches up with it and he's not too shabby (no I'm not saying moura is as good as bale)Look at all of lucas' video highlights. His close control is terrible. When he dribbles past someone his touch takes the ball feet away from him causing him to sprint after it which will cause incidents - just like Andros used to do. He isn't tricky at all. And scoring a shitload in a PSG side that has only had monaco as competition in an otherwise relatively poor league doesn't mean anything to me. Both of Sonny and Dele scored over 20 goals last season for us as well. If he comes then I will support him and hope that I'm terribly wrong but watching him play seriously reminds me of Townsend, and not because he's got dark skin or is bald.
Not overly excited about Lucas, he's not going to significantly upgrade our first 11. However he will improve the squad (upgrade on N'koudou and, in an attacking sense, Sissoko) so if the the price is decent it is a solid and sensible signing - without being a game changer.
Squad depth is a weakness so while not excited, it would leave me reasonably content.
