I actually know what you mean. I have no idea if he plays like Townsend or not because you really can't tell from clips so I wouldn't compare the two in terms of ability on the pitch but I agree in that just based on how he looks when running that he looks similar to Townsend, I thought the same. Maybe for example if you were to look at Lennon and Sterling clips you may think they look similar as they run in a very similar fashion (with their arms and hands out to the side, lol...) but their results on the pitch are quite different.

He does run like Townsend, dunno how people can deny it. Know it’s not a flattering comparison but it’s that “I’m not really in control of the ball” thing, slightly gated, hunched over, almost always falling over, running at full pelt as the ball shifts...

Every video I’ve watched is of him knocking the ball far beyond a defender, pissing past them and being fouled. So here’s to more free kicks and penalties!

As others have said he really isn't anything like Townsend.

I have seen a reasonable amount of Moura and I would say the player he reminds me the most of is Willian.
He has pace but doesn't look to use it every time he gets the ball, he looks for the through pass just as often if not more.
Most of his attacking attributes are decent without being exceptional. I guess if Poch can develop some of these then it could be a great signing.

People are saying he runs like Townsend, which he does. He runs and controls the ball nothing like Willian, who almost mirrors Hazard in his tappy tappy close control, air of calm then bam, power from nowhere. Moura is a constant ball of slightly mad energy

But fair dos if you’ve seen loads of him. If he’s half a Willian we’ve done well

I definitely think he will have to alter that style in England. Defenders here will just nick the ball off him straight away if he dribbles like that. I'm sure he will work it out, let's just hope he does it quickly.

If the transfer goes through of course.

Having watched a few highlights videos of this guy I think he is going to frustrate more than be celebrated.
Surely we have young wide players in our youth teams with these attributes.
There was a lad who played in the friendlies, georgiou I think it was who looked a prospect. No idea how he' getting on with the u21's

I hope that there are more young players ready to make the step up but Poch must be looking for a bit of experience at this point.

For me, Lucas will be everything that Poch wanted Sissoko to be. Someone, who from the right, can travel with the ball at speed and quickly get the whole team from defence to attack. Now obviously Lucas is far more naturally talented than Sissoko, so there is far more than just that, but I think it’s something that Poch has been keen to get in our side for a while and I think he has found the player to do it!

Thats why I posted, everyone seems to be expecting a pure speed merchant i.e Townsend/Walcott or a poor mans Robben/Mane.

He is quick but, at least at PSG, that is only a portion of his game. If people are expecting this guy who takes on his man at every chance I think they will be disappointed.

Willian is definitely a more accomplished player, I just see much more similarities with him than some of these other names thrown about.

Thing thats going to help Lucas is Aurier playing alongside. Looks like they had a good rapport on Right side, when playing in PSG. Moreover, way Lucas plays he gets involved in so many give & go's , which is something our front 3 or 4 can do. At 25m this is such a nobrainer and 10 times the upgrade on likes of Nkoudou. He will have a great impact whether he starts or plays from bench

There's a certain physical similarity with Andros but I do wonder if that's it, yes Moura runs with the ball and maybe puts it ahead of him and the defender to win the race to it but if he was a blue eyed blond I doubt there would be the same comparisons made.
Anyway this looks pretty much done so hopefully the Portuguese interpreter is still in the house for our friend Malcom.

Anyone think this is our cheaper alternative to Zaha?
No idea if its the better option or not.

Different styles of player obviously, but Moura has more experience playing around the world and in the CL

Incredibly they're actually the same age (25); I think of Moura as a 30 year old since he's been around for a while, and I still think of Zaha as an up and coming 20 year old lol

When I was a football mad boy I'd watch Glenn Hoddle and I'd play football on the streets trying to emulate/copy the great man there was no internet hell even videos were kinda new so I don't think I succeeded that well but anyway.
My point is maybe Townsend tried to copy Mouras style. Moura was very well thought of at the time Townsend was developing He's lost his place and maybe a bit of confidence due to psg signing two Ridiculous players, his stats seem pretty good still so I think for the money it's a no brainier.
If we pull it off

Bloke hasn't even signed yet or kicked a ball for us and he is already getting hammered by fans

Here is a novel concept
Why not wait untill/if he signs let him have a dozen games or so then judge him ?
Before you go all Francis Gibbs and Lamela on him :)

Just a thought mind :cautious:

Would have preferred Zaha to be honest but at the price quoted I would say this is a no brainier from a business point of view. Next question is whether Poch plays him regularly which I’m not convinced myself but will add some quality squad depth
