I might be wrong but thats how it is percieved from the outside, judging by the tv experts.

You know better how the average supporter views it. This is just something thats been talked alot about in Sweden, and we can only judge from tv and forums.

Oh my god, please do not judge us on the useless "experts" they trot out on TV. Most do not represent the average fan's view.

Experts and the people on forums who post it will usually have to express a view one way or the other even with little knowledge of the player. The vast majority of people who haven't seen him play will usually keep quiet. So this can probably scew views.
Some fans might be disappointed that the player we're getting is not one they had their heart set on so will probably knock the player saying he's not good enough.

Not sure where you get that idea from. The English national teams gets dogs abuse from English people. Same for English managers.
LOL at the idea of Merson and Thompson being considered experts though :D

There seems to have been more positivity with the 30m signing of Sissoko than Lucas at 23m.

Can't get my head around that.

And I never will.

I'm all for this signing with one reservation, if we make a stupid unveiling video of Moura playing the piano then I'm out, unless it's taking the piss like having Moura playing the piano like Les Dawson then I'm ok with it.

Really? I remember people losing their shit because we were linked with isco then got sissoko. Lots of people hated him from the outset. Even those of us that were willing to give him a chance seemed underwhelmed.

I’m not a huge fan of Moura and if I could choose a WF to come in it wouldn’t be him. But saying that, at the price quoted it’s somewhat of a no brainier. He could well become everything we need and more if he realises his potential, but even if he fails then we will still brake even and He’s certainly a big upgrade on Sissoko. I do think tho quite a few people have been judging him exclusively on YouTube highlight vids which is a recipe for disaster!

Good post.

I agree that is a no brainer at that price. At worst case he is a squad player and stops Sissoko being used as an RW, best case Poch taps into that early potential and we have a top quality player. The issue is its probably more likely that it's the former, and he does look like one that can frustrate.

He does have some things that will suit us IMO, pace in transition and smart movement in the box (he may well have made Harry's scuffed shot ahead of Lamela last week for example). If he can rediscover the distance shooting from his Sao Paulo days even better, obviously wasn't allowed that due to PSGs style.

I'm fully behind the signing anyway, just more in hope than expectation...

23 mill for an explosive tricky right winger which we needed for donkey's years, still complain. Massive upgrade on sissoko playing there. Think of the counter with him and son.

I wouldn’t say they were like for like though does sissoko play that many games on the right wing? He’s more central where as Lucas with his pace is more a winger and loves to cut inside

Depends. When he starts he always starts on the right. When he comes off the bench he seems to just fill in wherever needed.

@Ekmek you have to remember fans and experts aren't really comparing moura to townsend. They are comparing him to coutinho and sanches. There doesn't seem to be a grey area in football for many. You are either world class or you are shit.

I’m mainly excited about the prospect of Lucas and Aurier down the right hand side. Close to what we had the year when Lennon and Walker tore it up!

There's always a vocal minority, but anyone who is less positive about Moura than Sissoko needs their head examined.

He's a very good player. United nearly signed him before he went to PSG for what was then big money. And despite losing his place in the team it's not like he's been sitting around for years and years. Last year he scored 18 goals (and no I don't care how many were tap ins or penalties), which is 18 more than Sissoko scored last season, and 3 more than Sissoko has scored since 2011.

We need more goals from throughout the team, not just Kane, and he'll provide a great option on the right. Would he walk into United or City's team? Maybe not. But we've a chance to sign a major talent, still only 25, for one-sixth (!) of the price that Coutinho went for. The market is insane and the fact that he's not first choice for PSG is clouding some people's minds, I think. They've got fucking Neymar, Cavani and Mbappe up front lol.

Maybe he won't work out (although if you're reading this, Lucas, that's not a get-out clause) but it's the kind of shrewd signing that we need to keep making until our revenues allow us to splash out a bit more. Zaha is the same age, got fewer than half as many goals last year, and would cost literally twice as much, if not more.

I'm not saying we should all be dancing in circles in daisy-strewn fields, but right now I can't see any real downside to this transfer. Quality flair forward with pace and a good track record for a bargain.

Oh I don't disagree.

Lots of fans weren't keen. I'm just making a point that there appears to be lots of people against this signing which I find bizarre.

Here lies Nedley...

Couldn't get his head around there being more positivity with the 30m signing of Sissoko than Lucas at 23m.

And never did.

Just a word of caution about the 19 goals, most of them were tap ins from balls played across the box and at least 2 were pens. Very few were created out of indervidual skill. I’m not saying I’m against him at all, but despite his excellent goal tally last season his finishing isn’t that great. PSG often just walk the ball into the net at times. Obviously being in the right place at the right time is a very good skill, but he doesn’t score the kind of goals Mahrez scores for example, at least not regularly.

What's your point?

Dele scores a lot of "tap ins" so does sessegnon and most of sterlings goals this season have been "tap ins"

It reaches a point when someone scores so many "tap ins" that you have to say they have good positioning and it's not just something you can undermine them with anymore

Plus, Mahrez will probably go for over £50m.

Just from a marketing perspective, this is an amazing opportunity. One of the most famous and (at one time) most coveted footballers in the world. If he is indeed a success then just imagine what it will do for the profile of Spurs worldwide. I wonder what the thinking behind the signing actually is? Could be stellar for the club.
