Lots of rumours in the summer that we wanted a fast wide striker and it was a little odd we ended up with Llorente.

Maybe a fast wide striker has now materialised. I think Man City and Liverpool have shown there are alternatives to big centre forwards.

All for giving players time to settle in but what's really surprised me about Llorente has been his complete lack of appetite to really make an impact.

I know it's not always easy getting sporadic playing time, all the more reason to make the most of your opportunity.

It's like he's accepted his bit part role and it's affected his motivation.

We don't need a pure striker as backup to Kane. It's a complete waste of time. We need a player that can play striker and attacking mid/wide forward like Son.

Begs the question why we bought Llorente and Janssen before that.

Yeah it was strange how that one panned out. We were constantly told that 'pace is on it's way' and that we had loads lined up only for a completely different kind of player to come in. Which sounds to me like the club couldn't get any of those targeted so decided that something was needed, even if it was just another striker. There were plenty of us screaming out for a more dynamic striker as we don't need a Kane replacement, we need a complimentary player.

Shame if true. Haven’t utilised him correctly at all really.

I hope we have something else lined up, if not then what’s the point.

If llorente is leaving must be either an offer too good to refuse or we have somebody else coming in that can cover up front even if its not his natural position.maybe the brazilian kid at watford

Haven’t Bilbao just received a shitload of money from the Laporte sale? Maybe he’s been offered the change to go back?

If there's some sort of Llorente/Batshuayi deal going on... That would be ridiculous.

But I can't imagine Batshuayi would be happy to swap being #2 to Morata for #2 to Kane, even if he'd likely get more minutes here.

That suggests more time up front for Son (not a bad thing), we have a Llorente replacement lined up (but our recent forward signings have been hit and miss, to say the least) or it's all on Moura (+ A.N.Other?)

Soldado, Janssen, Llorente... Evidently being backup to Kane is no fun!

Makes sense why Bayern never had a backup for Lewandowski until this window. And yes I know about Muller but he would be the same case as Son for us.

If Chelsea want Llorente in exchange for Batshuayi, you absolutely bite their hand off for that - also causes problems with Dortmund finding a replacement for a certain striker...

Ah! Coops. Good to see you.
Wasn’t aware he was injured.
Thought I’d read via newsnow his contract was cancelled etc. Probably via that knob HHotspur

HHotspur is wonderful :shifty:.. I wasn't aware Janssen www injured either buddy, some of the other members were talking about it on either the ITK thread or the Moura thread. I think they said he could be out for 2 or 3 months.

We signed a proven top scorer in La Liga, behind on FakeRonaldo and Messi in 5 season's worth of La Liga goals, in his prime, and he flopped.
We then moved on to a young striker from the Netherlands who had scored at a phenomenal rate in the previous season and just broken into his national side, he flopped.
We tried a new option, a striker who has won major league titles and international honours who had just that previous season finished amongst the top scorers in the Premier League and, sadly it seems he has now also flopped.

Maybe this is the point at which we don't sign another forward and give the bench side to whoever our most promising young striker is. Reo Griffiths or Rodel Richards anyones?
