Hi guys, I missed the game. Seems like scousers are complaining about the penalties. Can anyone give their thoughts?

But Lovren touched the ball which rendered that irrelevant as the linesman pointed out.

See, I get that, but he still started offside didn’t he? The ball was meant for Harry, imo Lovren’s touch doesn’t mean anything.

Maybe I need to get with the times!

Notice how Carragher just slagged off Lovren for it? Wonder if he does the same with golden balls Dyke who was absolutely to blame for the second one that cost them the win. Lovren played better than Dyke.

@thinktank's right though. Poch knows how Liverpool are going to start this game. We all did. But his starting tactics were wrong to deal with that, and not for the first time in this type of game against Liverpool/City type opponents. First 25 minutes we needed to be sitting deeper, slowing things down, hit it longer to Kane, bypassing the press and trying to counter not pushing high up with two ponderous CM's against their three getting smothered.

You know Liverpool aren't going to keep that up past 25-30 minutes, especially having played in midweek.

First half was a joke. No idea why we changed system from normal. But when we know Liverpool will press from up top why not just let Lloris clear the ball? No need to invite pressure that close to goal. Second half much better and it was a matter of time.

Kane first penalty... Reckon the delay lost him. But he allowed to miss. But his reaction when Salah scored second showed me a lot. He took responsibility.

Made up for it with second.

We didn't bottle it, we missed a pen and a very good player scored an individually brilliant goal...welcome to football, things like this happen all the time.

Yeah we got lucky, of course we did, not like Liverpool gt lucky with their first goal or anything?

How about giving the team so credit for coming back from losing positions twice on a ground we traditionally crumble on eh?

I am giving us credit, we played fantastic, we deserved to win, should have had 2 or 3 goals second half, we played fantastically.

Then we missed a pen, again, it happens, Kane can’t score them all.

Then after that, we crumble and what you call a great bit of skill and individual brilliance, I call one player beating 3 professional defenders in the dying minutes of a match, that my friend, is down to our mentality away from home, we feared the worst and the worst happened.

The only reason people are piping up digging on people calling us legends for those last few minutes now is because we got a very fortunate pen that the ref wasn’t even going to give.

Thank god the linesman made the right call because if not we would have been sitting here saying the same thing we have done the last few seasons wouldn’t we?

So yes, very happy we won, very grateful we didn’t lose but don’t expect me to ignore what just occurred at the end and be blind to it, I hope that THIS will be a learning curve for them and we will grow yet again from it because this is a big result, regardless of how it happened, that much I can agree on.

Don’t think I am not happy, I am, just worried about how we nearly threw it away at the end there.

Thinks he's better than he is and can take libs on the pitch.

Wrong.

He isn't good enough, technically, yet, to match the hype around him.

Often very poor, technically, in fact.

Why we don’t start him deeper in games I don’t know. Let him settle, get a feel of the ball etc, get involved. Then let him slowly creep forward during the course of the game if it’s needed.

In amongst all that, a bit of credit to Poch for bringing Llorente on for Son in the 93rd minute, by luck or by judgement.

Touched the ball once and it was the flick on leading to the foul on Lamela!

Thought Hugo was poor for the Salah goal tbh.

I don't think so, he did the right thing in trying to come out and get something to the ball, Salah flicks it ahead of him. The only fault you can give to Hugo is maybe he should of been a bit quicker, but that is a very minor criticism, the main fault of that goal lies in the defense not holding him up effectively. It was a wonderful goal though.
