Astounded how little credit we're getting after that second half performance.

Had them on their knees, had Harry scored the first we might still not of won but the chances would of been bloody high.

It was an odd game with lots of ups and downs. After Dier’s poor kick, aided and abetted by Sanchez’s uncertainty we had Spurs play a weak and ineffectual first half. But we didn’t concede even though we easily might have. The USA feed announcers were shocked that Spurs had more possession.

Poch obviously said and ordered the right things at the half. Spurs were a different team, and by the time the fun really started, Liverpool’s defense was in tatters. The three great subs. Wanyama is much more direct than the Moose, and I need say no more. Goalazo!

Coco made the penalty happen, with Fernando getting the header. Two smart subs.

Takes away a little of the sour taste left over from a really fine effort from Salah. He should have been stopped but no one did it. Not sure anyone could. Messi-esque.

Bottom line: Spurs draw a game they had lost. Pool drop 2 points they had in the bag twice. Should be wind at our backs.

Now if they could just start in overdrive instead of idlying in park the rest of the season.

So much fuss about 1st pen and Kane didn’t even score lol. Just imagine if he’d have scored and we won 3-2. I swear Liverpool would have called for a replayed match

Still on the train coming back. We were the better side today for the majority of the game, including the first half when we had more possession and controlled the tempo after the first 20 minutes.

Verts was excellent, maybe a bit weak for the Salah second but had a very good game as did Dembele, thought Alli also caused them problems.

Very few teams go and dominate like we did at their place today and you could see at the end what it meant to the team and staff. Think we'll have our usual end of season spurt and secure top 4 if not top 3...we've wobbled at times this season but these lot are a tenacious bunch of fuckers as they've shown in the last 2 seasons and now they know what they've got to do I think they'll do it again...their tails are up and so is their confidence and they've done it before more importantly...

So frustrating that if we were after salah we could have got him. 34m plus 90k pw wages. He is exactly what we need

I remember reading that he has some pretty anti-semitic views. Probably not a good fit.

  • Liverpool had the better of the first half - but not by the margin some are saying. Things may not have been coming off for us, but our heads never dropped (we never threw the towel in like United did at Wembley, for instance), we were pushing for an equaliser, even if not that close to getting one. We dictated the tempo for large periods. They had the better chances and we did well (that's a euphemism) to keep the score are 1 - 0.
  • The second half was ours, We completely outplayed them, dominated them and dictated the tempo. We should have scored from open play before the penalty - as profligate as against United I thought. Hope that's not an ongoing feature.
  • Dele booking was correct, as were the two penalty calls.
  • A draw was a good result, so no reason to be pissed - but probably should have put them to the sword in the second half.
  • This was probably our hardest remaining game. Only top six side away left is Chelsea - and normally that should be as hard, if not harder - but they are a bit of a mess ATM. Let's hope they still are when we go to Stamford Bridge. Before anyone says it, I think as long as we still have most of our squad fit, and no suspensions, we will be well up for City at Wembley.
  • Good to see our bench looking so much stronger, now we have players coming back. Funny to think that nowadays a £30 million Sissoko and Spanish great Llorente are the weak links.
  • Folk need to not get so wound up at the occasional set-back.
  • No-one could be as pissed off as me (well, they could) - I had money on Liverpool to be leading at half-time and us to win - at £25 - 1 :(
  • But we now have four points from these three matches, played well at Anfield, and look in great shape for the NLD - reasons to be cheerful :)

1-3 would have been the just scoreline today.

That doesn't change that there are many controversial decisions regarding the phases of play, and whether or not a player is or isn't active.

There will always be cases where the referees have to make an interpretation. Whether the contact was enough to give a penalty kick or if the player in an offside position was blocking the view of the keeper. You can't write the laws in a way where those types of decisions involving the opinion of the referee are removed. But today's decisions were fairly black and white.

Great game. I wasn't optimistic we'd get anything from it and going 1-0 down so early I worried we'd cave.

But we came out strong in the second half and although I've been critical of Pochettino's substitutions before, he got them spot on tonight.

Kane missing a pen is unlikely, but that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes. Though gutted he missed, in fact the manner through which we kept fighting to draw was almost more impressive.

To go down 2-1 in the 91st minute after missing a penalty surely has got to be the biggest body blow a team can suffer. From potential win to defeat in the space of minutes. Yet, we have a fighting spirit and credit to the players, the manager and the fans in the stadium, our heads didn't drop and really smart play from Llorente, Tripper and Lamela has really made this feel like a point gained rather than 2 dropped.

I hope the optimism I feel about the rest of the season on the back of the last couple of league games translates to the players and we take this forward to next Saturday and tonk that lot from over there.

COYS - what a game. What a goal from Wanyama.

thought we played a lot better in the second half.

made them look very poor, if we walked away from that with no points I would have felt hard done by.

now lets beat the scum.

I'm a former referee and it's so pleasing to read posts from someone who clearly knows their stuff. I take it you are or were a referee too cwy21.

For others, your posts might make your point much more convincing if you used the word "laws" rather than "rules".

The way Kane looking for the penalty just said about his confidence at that point of time. I really though the contact was ever so slight brought by himself by his trailing leg. He could have really skipped past the keeper IMHO and scored.

Personally I wasn't so confident for the first penalty. I think many Spurs fans may have felt that way too. Is like almost a fairy tale end to our records at Anfield, too good to be true. And all the universe energy just got transmitted to Kane.

I am a referee in the US. I was starting to think I was alone on SC.

My Americanism's come out every now and then. Of course most coaches and parents I deal with don't think I know what I'm talking about, so this place would be no different!
