I was surprised too. He was commenting on Pochettino's quote about "diving is a “minimal detail” and that overanalysis is “killing the game”. Lineker's reaction was "No, it’s cheating that will kill the game, Mauricio."

He's not outright calling Poch or the team cheats but it's implied, IMO. Open to interpretation anyway.
It does seem like an implied dig, and he's right about diving killing the game, but quoting Poch to argue this point is fruitless, given that both pens were legitimate fouls, regardless of how much contact there is on Kane. The second is indisputable (unless you're a selectively blind, deluded moron).

We're gonna be hit with that cheating narrative from rival fans as a negative because it came from a high profile game and was a major talking point at the weekend and it's very easy stick to beat us because we are a threat and without wanting to admit it they'd prefer to use an angle which suits their anti Spurs agenda. It's nothing new, the other big teams have been getting it for years.

How far does this cheating and dishonesty reach ?

To be honest if we look back to the Ars/Tottenham recently and in particular the incident when the ref awarded Alexis Sanchez a FK for the (non) shirt pulling it became a case of Alexis should have turned to the referee and stated that he had made a mistake and there was no need for a foul to be awarded.

Alexis didn't do this so therefore Arsenal profited by default and not admitting there was no shirt pull. Just like finding a wallet in the street and not handing it in.

Normally when the opposition fans, especially the goons and scum, are not feeling confident I worry about the match.

Now...they are feeling so confident...I really think we're going to suffocate them. I honestly don't think they'll score. Something like 1-0 or 2-0. Maybe optimistic, but they're so up their asses right now I can totally see us trashing them

Definite bonus that they're a bit more confident. Think we took the game for granted a bit in the away fixture. We should be well up for this and ready for the challenge etc.

I don't remember Lineker condemning Jamie Vardy when his dives helped Leicester win the league. Hell, even Lineker made a meal of two challenges to win penalties for England against Cameroon in Italia 90.

That second was was very similar to Kanes tbf, both stonewall penalties.

Anyone else just really hugely bored of reading about how our players “dived” in complete contradiction to what is seen if you actually watch the match? It gets tiresome so quickly.

Except for Alli and that was not even a "good" dive.

This diving/cheating thing is just something else people are using to try and undermine us because we are competing with teams who should be far superior to us.

Every team cheats and have done since the sport began. Cynical fouls are cheating, surrounding the ref for every decision is cheating, pulling shirts is cheating. Cheating is part of the game, as poch says if you get caught you have to accept it but if not then you've done well. The obsession with diving is so odd.

I prey dele dives in the 90th min on Saturday to win a pen and win us the game. It's will be the most glorious thing that's ever happened and the tears will be delicious.

It's a load of bollocks though, isn't it?

Dirty Leeds' hard men weren't adverse to a bit of diving when it suited them.

Arsenal's invincibles were notorious for it...

Players like Wise, Owen, Gerrard, Savage, Rooney, Young etc got/get blown over by a stiff breeze if it helped/helps their team out.

It's just a weird quirk of English football that we somehow remember ourselves as always being whiter than white...

So, basically, Poch is probably right... we just don't like to admit it...

I don’t. I’d rather we beat them without resorting to diving. Let the other clubs cheat and fluke themselves to victory.

As much as there is hypocrisy around, there is also a need to call things out for what they are, even if it involves one of our players.

Love Dele, but he dives too much and most of them are just embarrassingly blatant. Sorry, but he does, and if he hasn’t already he will earn himself a rep and as a result will deny us legitimate penalties in the future.

How would you feel if Arsenal were on a counter attack in the last min and one of our players pulled their shirt back to stop them running? Because that's cheating aswell

I bet all this undeserved criticism will result in us not getting a deserved penalty or getting an undeserved one against us.

I want to win one nil with a Tom Daley style dive from Dele Alli winning the penalty. Nothing will hurt them more than that

Well obviously they would be given a yellow or red card as appropriate. What they wouldn’t do would be given an opportunity to score by a blatant dive.

Same way I wouldn’t want our players to roll around feigning injury to get someone sent off.

If Poch plays it right at his press conference he should mention how he expects the referee in the NLD ignores all the nonsense from the press around penalties and just concentrate on getting the decision right on the day - I bet Maureen would in these circumstances!
