Yep - a handful of sensible voices aside, the reaction in the media by pundits, journos and ex pros has been ludicrous.

And yet people claim they aren’t biased towards particular teams, it’s a crock of shit.

The thing is, it’s quite easy for people to say “Oh just ignore the media why does their opinion matter?” but it’s pretty clear they hold influence, especially when they constantly cover shit over and over to put pressure on the refs, they know what they are doing, it’s not even subtle and I can almost guarantee it alters the way officials approach matches, especially the big ones.

Gary Linekar is constantly virtue signalling whatever the popular narrative is the majority of the time anyway.

Were there any contentious decisions in those matches that went Arsenal's way?

Regardless, the ridiculous furore in the media regarding the penalty decisions at Anfield won't help. Even Lineker piped up on Twitter yesterday implying that Tottenham were “cheating”.

I’m not one to buy into “the world’s against us” narrative but will this wave of criticism influence (even sub-consciously) the way we’re treated by referees in the short term? I’d be surprised if the team was awarded a penalty over the next couple of matches.

I honestly couldn’t tell you mate as I haven’t looked into it but irrespective of all that, you make some good points.

Soooooo.. What are Newport saying?

Tomorrow/tonight we will probably lose three or four nil. Deep down inside we all know that we might get stuffed. Tottenham are smarting from the game at Rodney Parade, the dossier will fire fire up those criticised, the pitch will suit Spurs and they will want to go better than Swansea.

Frankly I think that we will probably lose by at least five and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we lose with double figures. And if either of those scenario turn out to be true I can live with it. I think it is a price worth paying for the very slim chance of being there on the greatest night in the clubs history.

Havent been as quietly confident about a win at wembley since we beat wrexham.
A 4-1 win is a bit optomistic but I think Flynny has nulled the wembley factor, squad will be focused but calm, with notts county's 8-1 live on tv a good wake-up.

I have flown in from Ireland is that I think maybe one time in thirty we will win. And if we do I want to be there.

I don't remember Lineker condemning Jamie Vardy when his dives helped Leicester win the league. Hell, even Lineker made a meal of two challenges to win penalties for England against Cameroon in Italia 90.

Love the dramatic ref

This diving/cheating thing is just something else people are using to try and undermine us because we are competing with teams who should be far superior to us.

Every team cheats and have done since the sport began. Cynical fouls are cheating, surrounding the ref for every decision is cheating, pulling shirts is cheating. Cheating is part of the game, as poch says if you get caught you have to accept it but if not then you've done well. The obsession with diving is so odd.

I prey dele dives in the 90th min on Saturday to win a pen and win us the game. It's will be the most glorious thing that's ever happened and the tears will be delicious.

That would be funny but I believe in Karma, that shit will swing round back at us, FA Cup final in the last minute or something.

What we really want from this is to carry on what we're doing, playing well scoring legit goals, a bit of controversy doesn't hurt like the game on Sunday for example but we really don't need this cheating stuff hanging round our necks.

Unfortunately we can't take anything you say seriously anymore, because if you believe in karma, you're obviously bat shit mental. ;)

Assuming a win v Newport , does Rochdale have a message board or do they just write messages in the dirt?

And if its Karma we're on about we're still in the red by some fkin way, the shit we've seen handed against us down the years.
I reckon a dodgy penalty for us every fa cup game including the final and then we'll be on an even keel, maybe.

I bet all this undeserved criticism will result in us not getting a deserved penalty or getting an undeserved one against us.
The amount of times Dele dives it wouldnt exactly be surprising to see refs not give us stonewaller penalties, they watch tv and see him try and con the ref most weeks. There will be doubt in their minds for sure.

They also have to referee impartially, objectively and without preconceptions.

We as Spurs fans need to stop beating Dele with this stick, it’s boring, pathetic and if he or any Spurs player wins a 94th minute penalty under contentious circumstances that goes on to give us a win, none of you will care.

so, who's up next? Woolwich scum, not like them to be quiet is it :cautious:

They are not
Bizarrely super confident even to the point of uttering words like going to smash them and 5-1 and easy win.

Hopefully that makes it all the better for us

I really don’t get their confidence either. All the Arsenal fans I know are talking about hitting us for 3s and 4s. I can only assume that beating Everton who lets face it have been the whipping boys lately has made them forget how shocking their away form is. Add to that I genuinely can’t rememeber the last time we conceded more than 2 at home in the league. It will make arsenal fan tv all the sweeter

I watched a bit ArseFanTV, and they say their record at Wembley in the last 8 played, is 8 wins. Added to that the signings of Augbergine and Mickticky and that's match won according to them.

As far as I can see, the season 14 / 15 we conceded 3 goals at home in 3 games, from Liverpool, Chelsea and Leicester. Arsenal score 3 against us at The Lane in April 2011 and September 2007.

ROCHDALE:
I cant see them turning up with the A team, more like the 11 they played last night or possible weaker.
Away at juventus only 3 days later.
No way we are seeing the likes of Kane,Erikson Ali etc.
Especially on the Cow field.
