What an absolute shambles. The biggest game of the season and our best defender is at home.

If he doesn't want to sign a new contract, use him until the Summer and sell him to the highest bidder.

Shambles? Did you miss our last 3 league games?

Toby has been out for a long time. Why on earth does anyone expect him to feature just now in a big game. Playing against Newport is hardly anything but a step on the road to fitness. Maybe if we were Pool, Arsenal or some other team with no defence we might risk his injury but we aren't. Also when did Poch ever start playing anyone after long injuries except slowly over a period of time?

No Toby is big news. I hate to hear all this talk about contract negotiations going sour and prefer to think that his rehabilitation is still on track & Poch is saving him for the 2nd leg in March.

Lloris
Aurier Sanchez Jan Rose
Wanyama Dembele
Eriksen Dele Sonny
Kane
subs: Vorm Dier Davies Winks Llorente Moura Lamela
COYS!

Given the Toby news anybody think he'll slot Dier into a back three and start Dembele and Wanyama in midfield?

I'd start Son, but I have a feeling Poch will plump for:

Lloris

Dier
Sanchez
Vertonghen

Aurier
Wanyama
Dembele
Rose/Davies

Eriksen
Dele

Kane

I'd love to be able to snatch an away goal, but will be happy with 0-0 too.
Nooo! 0-0 away isn't good. Imagine playing the return leg at home, they would only have to score once, and we would be against the ropes having to score 2. We need an away goal for at least to draw or win, and then we can accept 0-0 at home.

Lloris
Serge_______Sanchez_______Verts______Davies
Wanyama____Dembele
Lamela_____Erriksen_____Dele
Kane
Vorm Trippier Rose Dier Winks Son Moura

I would rather put Son to sub Kane than have Lloriente on the bench. I haven't been impressed by him

The amount of teams given on here not starting with Dier is a bit weird. When did Poch last start without Dier (Newport aside)? I get that some of you are taking fresh legs into account but i can’t believe he won’t start without Dier.

I understand wing back rotation cos they’re running up and down for 90 minutes all game but Dier is, erm, a bit more chilled...
As said before for the millionth time, some of us use this thread to pick the formation and the players who we would like to see, not to second guess Poch

I don’t come into this thread much so I wouldn’t know tbh. Shouldn’t it be called ‘team we’d like to see against Juventus’ instead? The title suggests what we think the team will be, not what we’d like it to be. I remember popping into a thread like this a couple of weeks ago and said something similar about Dier would be starting in response to the OP leaving him out the team and it got a lot of ‘agrees’ so I assumed it was about who we think will play.

Not that it matters really. As long as we beat Juve and win the CL then it’s all good.

I agree and you are not wrong. The title is ambiguous so its left to how posters like myself interprete it. This has been an ongoing debate for the same reasons, so to each their own how they perceive it. Yes, lets just beat Juventus and make it academic!!

A good time to play them. Barzagli and Paulo Dybala are struggling against time to be fit. Juan Cuadrado, Blaise Matuidi and Benedikt Howedes are out of the side. COYS!

I read a tactical analysis from a Juve site in which they say that Dembele is our most important player as everything comes through him. It also says what a threat we carry and how versatile we are going forward. For me, if we sit off and try to be too clever, it nullifies a lot of what makes us a threat. I say pick the same team and play the same way. Suffocate them and gradually wear them down with our superior fitness and athleticism. They should be more worried about us, and I bet they are!

And Pochettino said: "My idea is to keep playing the same way, to try and be a little bit braver if we can, while being clever because their level is one of the best in Europe.

"Watching the last few games, we are comfortable in the way we are playing and the shape we use [4-2-3-1]. I think the players know we don't have to change too much and in the last three Premier League games they have started to feel good.

"It is important sometimes not to change too much, unless you want to rotate to provide more freshness to win.

So what he’s saying is, drop Alli and put Rose, Lamela and Winks in.

Thinky knows best.

Sounds like 4-2-3-1 with full backs rotated.

Has there been any changes to our Champions League squad? Moura in and who's out then?

It's a lot better than a loss and we'd go into the home game knowing we have to win. Juve's away goals won't count, as long as we win,
