Bit of a strange one. Was Foyth dropped from the CL squad to accomodate Moura?

If there Is or was one thing that Poch could have done a little differently he may want to reflect on the way he reacted to media questions about why Toby wasn't selected to be on the bench against Arsenal. Instead of reacting angrily or coming accross as irritated by the question, which is understandable he could have simply come out with a bland and deadpan statement that he is not rushing a player back after a long lay off and he could have gone on to calmly say that he does this with all of our players that are returning from injury. If the interviewer persisted he could have laughed at the question and lightened the atmosphere by suggesting the interviewer was reading too much into it, or he could have invited the interviewer to go back and check on the facts of how he has done this in the past with current Spurs players when introducing them back into the squad after a long lay off.

By reacting in this way he has invited the media who need no excuse to come up with 2 plus 2 equals 5 stories when it comes to Spurs players allegedly wanting to leave the club to go into overdrive with glee, this will result in them trying to constantly draw parallels between this situation and the ones that led to Kyle Walker's eventual departure and all the furore around Danny Rose and his alleged relationship with the manager and the club, and make no mistake they will rehash this story in slightly different varieties over and over again particularly over the next couple of weeks.

The media and interviewers should always be treated like match opponents, in that they never have your interests at heart, and you should always be on your guard or have tactical ways of combatting them or nullifying their threats.

Like to think that is all this is about, however, Pochettino is well-known for being ruthless to players who aren't wholly committed; if indeed this is about his contract, then I can imagine him being sold this summer.

Replacements would be at a premium, however, I think we ought to cast our eye at Kristoffer Ajer at Celtic, a player who is young, strong and possesses excellent control, as well as good dribbling skills.

I hope that we do sort this all out & he stays.

Or he could of just tell them to feck off, mind their own and respect the fact that as a manager he selects the team.

Maybe he felt the question was more about being disrespectful to Sanchez as much as it was about Toby.

I am sure he felt irritated coz they questioned his decision to select one player over another. And that after a win? Poch was right to stress that he chooses the team in his opinion capable of winning a game. It's ridiculous from the media to bring the issue of the contract up when Toby clearly has fitness issue.

For what it's worth I too agree that it is ridiculous for the media to bring it up in this way, but they are nothing if not predictable, and they will always try, I just think that reacting to them in this way fans the flames of these stories, and they will now probably not go away for now unless or until Toby is selected again in a very important game, which is likely to be in the return leg at home to Juventus, yest I also expect he will be selected again before that but selecting him in the second leg puts out clear proof that they are stirring up nonsense.

Don't get me wrong I fully understand why he was irritated, but sometimes you need to dampen the media down and frustrate them rather than fire them up as they will come after you in a big way, unfortunately it will put even more pressure on his selections this Tuesday than there already was anyway and on the individuals selected and how they perform. Regardless of whether Toby was ready or not I really don't think this reaction has helped, and you can imagine that the media will have an absolute field day if it blows up because we are beaten badly in the first leg because of defensive errors. I truly hope it doesn't for all our sakes for obvious reasons because I'm as passionate about Spurs as you all are. They will jump on the bandwagon they love to jump on and will say Poch got it wrong, even if privately Poch knew that Toby was not truly ready for this crucial first leg knock out tie, because of this reaction he and us will get a much harder time of it than we would have done if we lose decisively and significantly in the first leg..

The idiot who asked the question was from the Mail. I despise the English tabloid football press. Compared to American sports journalists, they're imbeciles.

MP is getting increasingly irritated at these conferences.
The journalists are not playing so nicely and maybe the press officer needs to sort this out.
Perhaps Levy has cut out the free biscuits or something.
