Spurs fans living on should have beens again. We nearly drew that game and then its just Liverpool - a decent result tinged with disappointment.

Just like almost winning the title isn’t winning the title, the way a game plays out and the result are quite often not related.

Arsenal beat us 2-0 at theirs, despite not playing as well as we did this weekend.

So no, I don’t agree. It doesn’t reinforce your point at all. I think it’s very telling we’ve only scored 3 goals twice at home against Arsenal in the premier league era - and one of those we lost.

Anyway, sure the betting shop loves you if you consider 1-0 near enough to 3-1. Maybe back us against Juve for 3-1 as 1-0 in Turin will do me

For a start, I don't know why you sound to have a massive chip on your shoulder. When I say the match was close to how I envisioned, despite it not actually being 3-1, I obviously mean with how it was played out, so don't try and make me out to be an idiot. Secondly, just from what you've replied with, I really can'y be bothered to argue with someone with views such as yours, so I'll leave it at that. (y)

I have one Goon in my facebook and he always gives it large when they win or one of the other top 5/6 lose. He was very quiet this weekend.

All he did was post a pic of his snowy garden with the caption "all white today".

He deleted my response of "just like North London"

Why are they continuing to talk up Wilshere as “there only player who cared “ he still looks weak and gets over runner. He is no better than what Ryan mason was for us

Are people disagreeing because they feel mason is better ? Or do they feel Wilshere is an exceptional player ? I was merely using a an example , I think Wilshere is all hype !

Wilshere is a more superior player although I cant stand him.

He is I agree but I had 6 disagree ratings :( when I said him at arsenal reminds me of mason at spurs in terms of there not bad players but good enough . I think Wilshere is very overhyped

He is a little scrote, but he does get the NLD and has passion for his team. Wenger's problem is playing Wilshere in a midfield that also contains Ozil and Mkhitaryan. Three passengers who were cannon fodder against the work rate of our midfield.

Just had a look at that article and think we have found a clear upgrade on @Bus-Conductor. The writer is a metronome & creates many more words per minutes across the 90 with more quality assists & less minutes played. (Stats from whoscored to follow)

Found this bit interesting.

Dembele is Tottenham’s most important player because nothing happens without him. His passes transform their build-up phase into the attacking phase. His timing is critical. Once Dembele receives the ball from the center backs, he needs to assess when and how to deliver a pass. A space may remain open for only half a second. Making a pass too early or too late and the space is gone. On top of that, he needs to withstand the opponent’s pressure and pass through the opponent’s midfield:

I want to see his reaction when he sees that the author of that article thinks Dembele is Tottenham's most important player.

Its a great article that offers a different perspective on the 'slow build up' debate.

Dembele is crucial because only he can consistently deliver that pass and he anchors their weakest point. Man-marking him is not ideal, because it will comprise the cohesion of defense. Dier and Davinson Sanchez are not as good as Dembele, but they can still inflict damage if unmarked. Dembele picks up the ball from the defense and use a midfield block to prevent his entry pass.

If Juventus can eliminate his forward passing lane, Tottenham’s attack will halt. Sami Khedira should do this job since he plays on the same side as Dembele and has the tactical intelligence for the task. Better, if Juventus can intercept the ball, they can immediately threaten Tottenham since their fullbacks will be positioned wide and make the center vulnerable. Juventus already experimented this tactic in Derby d’Italia in December. Like Spurs, Inter used a 4-2-3-1 with a better passer (Borja Valero) but fewer runners. In that game, Juventus nullified Inter’s ball progression in the midfield by minimizing Valero’s vertical passes, thus preventing Inter from supplying their attackers.

I agree that man-marking Dembele is not ideal, but disagree with his reasoning. Man marking Dembele doesn't work because he brushes his marker to the floor, just ask Wilshere. It's unique for a CM and why he suits the system well.

The Borja Valero example is exactly why I think some of the criticism to Dembele is harsh. Many think that a quick-passing playmaker would speed up our build up (the logic is reasonable), but in practice the opposition can strangle the supply with tight marking - again, just ask Wilshere (27 successful passes). When Winks plays for example, he tries to drop his marker using quick one-twos but this also slows our build up, just in a different way.

This isn't to say that some of the criticism of the slow build up play isn't unwarranted - but I think the criticism should be shared with those runners. How many times have we seen the likes of Dele anticipate a first time pass from Dembele, only to be stuck on his heels, offside with his arms up once Mousa takes on his man and finally picks his head up. If we delay the runs, as I think we have done the last few weeks we get the best out of Mousa. If we are playing against a bus-parking team that sit off our midfield, I think we need to get Mousa on the ball much further forward or simply bring on Winks.

Liverpool fans on whether they want English teams to progress in Europe

Obviously I don’t want the scum, or the diving scum to get far in Europe, but then again, that would mean they could fully focus on top four.

On the one hand, yes. But on the other hand, fuck Manchester United and fuck Tottenham..
We really got to them last week, we are now on par with United

Yeah. Juventus are better than us, I'd want Spurs to beat them. I want the better team to lose in every other game so that means Spurs and Chelsea knocking out Juve and Barça

I'm not afraid of Spurs over 2 legs. In fact I'd relish it
Interesting, it's like we didn't beat them 6-3 on aggregate over our 2 games this season

And a special shout out for their complete lack of self awareness
I want Chelsea to fuck over Barca so that Phil starts doubting his move. Tired of those Catalonian sell outs with their entitlement complex. Man U I want to win as well so that they're never too well rested for the league.
