Absolutely headtbreaking. Gutted for him. Loved Spurs, loved Poch, and part of the group that turned things around leading to what we have today. Hope we find a spot somewhere in the club for him. Bring him home, Spurs.

Gutted for him, part of our renaissance when Poch first came in.
Be nice to see him back at the club at some point in some capacity.

Indeed & so would I, because he can impress on young players in particular that you can never taking anything for granted.

Love him. Hate it when people dig him out for being average. Great little player for us and gave 110%.

Cahill is a fucking reckless twat. He should give Mason half his wages for the rest of his career.

Gutted for him. Very good player and comes across as a great guy. I don't think it can be overstated how integral he was in helping change the attitude at our club. He breathes Tottenham and it would be lovely if he could come back in some capacity

BT or Sky Sports should snap him up. Such a well spoken, articulate guy who has great knowledge of the game. Would make a fantastic pundit along with Jenas in my opinion.

Unfair to blame anyone. They both went for the ball and Mason got unbelievably unlucky.

He said Cahill is a reckless twat, which is true. Steaming into the challenge like Cahill did literally could have killed Mason, because he's a reckless twat.

Such a shame. Was a huge turning point at our club in the way our players approached football. Positive, worked hard and believed.

If our academy players develop his attitude they will all be capable of being championship or better players and earn a very healthy wage.

Gutted about this news. He comes across as being a really top guy and was Spurs through and through.

Would love to see him back at the club as a coach

A real shame as was always one of my favourites during his team in our first team squad.

Had such potential to be such a good player and if not for injuries reckon he would have been more of a success for us.

Unfortunately when you sustain a head injury such as he did it's always going to be difficult to carry on playing and much better he worries about his long-term health and spending time with his family.

I'd hope we would have a role for him as he is Spurs through and through.

a bitter pill for a young man but he is alive and his brain works and he has a new family. things like this make you stronger in the long run.

Yeah get him in with Scott Parker, instill some of his attitude into our kids, teach them that no matter how good you are, how much money you think you're worth, you never know what is round the corner.

Poor fella, gutted for him. Hopefully he can carve out a great career for himself, Im sure he can. Would be great if he was a pundit for a while to add to the few ex-Spurs players who are now pundits. Break up some of that scouse/manc monopoly on the tv channels. Hopefully he can take one of those annoying liverpool ex players jobs, maybe Phil Thompson, Carragher or Mcmanaman or all.

Im sure he could make it as a coach or manager in the future if he wanted.

It's a real shame. I always had a soft spot for Ryan. When on the pitch he always looked like he cared. He's done the smart thing by following medical advice and retiring. Best of luck to him for his future.

Quite unusual to hear of a professional having to retire from injury these days.

Ryan’s been very unfortunate and I wish him well in his next career.

Cloughie has to retire from playing football early, there’s your pathway!
