Dembele was simply superb in that 1st half, but Eriksen was superb overall so im giving it to Eriksen.

Aurier was a liability in defence and provided nothing at all in attack.

9- eriksen, dembele
8- kane, vertonghen, lloris
7- lamela, alli
6- davies, dier
5- sanchez
4- aurier

Sanchez and Aurier where that bad? Seriously?

Spot on mate. Although i would probably give a lower grade to Davies, Sanchez and Aurier. Absolute horrible penalties to give away, really bad crossing and shaky defense. We completely dominated Juventus, but our defense gave away enough chances for us to lose. Also i would give higher grades to Eriksen, Dembele and maybe Kane. Away to Juventus and we outplayed them. That’s a 10 in my book for our best players.

Eriksen MotM. Dembele second and Kane third.

Lloris 8
Aurier 5
Sanchez 7
Verts 8
Davies 7.5
Dembele 9.5
Dier 7 (would have been an 8 but he suddenly started passing to them last 10
Mind!)
Eriksen 9
Dele 8
Lamela 8
Kane 8 (should have had a pen and also should have scored that header)

Poch 8

Not sure why we’re such slow starters in big away games.

Aurier was shit. Davies was a bit sloppy in possession and Dier had a few stray passes in silly areas. Aurier aside everyone played well, some (Dembele/Eriksen) outstanding.

Why is there a belief that Aurier must start and he's far and away our best right back? Right now he isn't.

He's not as good defensively as Trippier and isn't enough of a threat going forward to justify his rashness. Until he proves it, tonight shows why Poch favours Trippier in the big games

++ Dembele (MOTM), Eriksen, Poch

+ Vertonghen, Dier, Dele, Kane

<> Lloris, Sanchez, Lamela, Davies

- Aurier

-- n/a

NET Lucas (though he had a couple of encouraging touches), Son, Wanyama

...

> Aurier should probably be a --, but he did well going forward in final 15 minutes and stayed on his feet in the 2nd half, so I bumped him up one tier.
> Davies same in reverse; should have been 1 tier higher b/c he was really good, but that pen was brainfart central, so marked down for that.

> Poch gets a ++ because, though I'm not a tactics guy, it looked to me like we bummed them tactically. They were rabbits-in-headlights for long stretches.

Lloris 6 - soft on the goal and soft on the pen has spaghetti wrists sometimes

Aurier 4 - I’m sorry but I wanted you at this club you simply have to start learning why go to ground why the silly foul for the yellow. Has to get more street wise he’s our weak link and I’m not sure if I have allegri confused but didn’t he managed psg? He must have known.

Sanchez first half 4 - him and aurier just don’t seem to have an ability to play with each other it’s strange.

Sanchez second half 8 - soon as he realised he can not trust aurier he was much better

Vertonghen 7 - trademark Jan

Davies first half 5 got himself in a state for the pen but showed great grit to come back and put a performance in the second half for that I will give him a 7

Dembele 10 - I was worried he had lost it but whatever we have done fitness wise with recently keep doing it that was probably one of the best midfield performances I have seen. He carried this club tonight. He stood up and he wanted to show what we are about. Mousa I am sorry for having a go earlier on in the season

Dier 7 - loses 3 marks for that pass he has to cut it out he does it once or twice every big game not sure if it’s nerves or just lack of composure

Dele 8 - excellent at times starting to add more to his game than just the goals and becoming a bit of a complete midfielder I think the boy could play anywhere on the pitch.

Eriksen 10 - that’s what I want from him every week effort aggressive and work rate.

Lamela 9 - excellent if he was not on the pitch we do not come back I am sorry but his pressure and work rate is infectious it drags us out of situations he was an animal he must be horrible to play against.

Kane 7 - should have two but done well to occupy and take the beatings off the two centre halves.

Dembele and eriksen were on a different dimension. I mean, first half dembele was trolling their midfield....newport were more aggressive.

Eriksen though was always in the pocket ready to do the damage and the chances he laid on were unreal.

Alli was good and bad.typical alli really but the key is he does deliver.

What a month Dembele is having. My MOTM followed by Eriksen and Lamela.
Agree with that. Dembele was a real leader out there too when we needed him most. He literally commandeered that midfield after that desperate start. He got us back in the groove, and this boosted the confidence of the whole team.

I had at least 3 motms eriksen ,moose and super jan, a performance that makes a statement in this competition, we should have no fear for the return leg .We've now beat last year's winners and dominated the beaten finalists ,I feel this team has come of age tonight and I'm one proud man tonight.

I think aurier is better suited against park the bus sides who have little threat going forward. I feel his pace creates space for others.

I also think he did well in this game despite a really bad spell where he looked certain to get sent off. There is definitely a good player here.

The midfielders were all amazing today.

I agree with your assessment of Dembele but to say he 'carried' us is a bit unfair on the other players like Eriksen and Lamela who played very well.

Complete agree, imagine the uproar if Trips put in that performance

Eriksen found ways through their defence that looked impossible. This showed how good he is. But Dembele just was huge for us. The two together dragged us back into the game and scared Juve to death.
