I thought he was a liability with his tackling and his crossing was piss poor until he got booked but strangely enough improved after the yellow card.
It was all strangely reminiscent of the performances of the Kyle Walker of 4-5 years ago. If Poch can work the same magic on Aurier, we might (eventually) have another £50 million full back on our hands.... :):)

Im in the middle of a split from my partner after 20 years so Valentines day was looking likely to be tough for me. However I can trust in Spurs, my one true love, to give me a romantic gift for today.

Pride is a wonderful thing!

My several thoughts. Italian supporters are a disgrace - booing their own team after 20 minutes every time they lost the ball.
Juve simply don't have the stamina to maintain our tempo for 90 minutes.
Dembele had his best game for us EVER - a beast.
Erisken is a poet, but it seems Lamela told him a few things about what to do for the free kick.
Juve fans are actually trying to dispute the foul on Alli... Deluded bastards.
We have such a talented squad and with Alderwireld coming back, it's scary what we can achieve.
Next time, at home, unleash Son and they won't now what hit them.

As a nice little bonus Rome I just discovered the selfie queen and ex Arsenal GK Szczesny was on the bench
last night for Juve.

I agree with this. I do understand the worry over Aurier, as he hasnt cut the recklessness out of his game... yet. I think what people have to remember is that Poch's methods and training are incredibly different to the majority of other clubs. Players have been saying it from the start. Ultra-tough training, combined with his precise demands from individual positions.

Despite how highly a player is rated, we've seen many fall by the wayside. Be it by not hitting Poch's high performance demands, or through lack of effort.

But sometimes, players flourish under this, and hit heights we'd never have expected before. Walker was king of the brain fart. Rose was a laughing stock when he got his new contract. Even Dembele looked lost. They all share one thing in common though -- they all improved by working hard over time, and following Poch's advice to the letter. And time is what Aurier hasnt had. He hasnt had a preseason, and has had the season so far disrupted by injuries. Is he listening to Poch? Only time will tell I suppose...

I guess my conclusion is that it's plain to see there is raw talent in Aurier. Yes there are mistakes in him, but if anyone is going to polish him into a diamond, it's Pochettino. Lets not turn on him just yet, as players remember. Just ask Mr Rose...

Me and my mates were gutted last night after those 2 early goals went in but we all said we will easily score 1 or 2 . It's amazing how much confidence we have in this team now ,being up against the Italian champions and multiple European winners and to feel so relaxed about it all. It's a strange feeling these days . God I hope we win a few trophies soon as this group of players are just brilliant to watch and support.

This thread won't be complete until we hear how @sunnydelight786 made his way across Italy in an hilarious Planes, Trains & Automobiles-styleee in order to make his slighty-cheaper-from-an-entirely-different-airport flight home.
Presently I’m sitting on a Air France flight at Paris CDG airport waiting to take off.

Eventful journey there & now the return. Flew from LHR to Milan yesterday morning, caught bus to Milan central train station from Airport then a train to Turin.

Return journey started with arriving at my hotel after the game + food at 1am. Crashed out for 2 hours then was up at 3.30am to shower, get ready and checkout. Had a taxi waiting for me at 4am to take me to Turin airport. Straight through security and after a wait boarded flight from Turin to Paris at 6.05am.

Due back in London by 10.40am and should be at work by 11.15am. The things we do for THFC eh.....:D

Bottle jobs :sneaky:

I hope this result finally puts that absolute bollocks to bed.

Rather inevitably it's been taken from the 'celebrating a draw' angle. As in it sums up Spurs and the media coverage that a draw in a two-leg tie has been celebrated as a 'coming of age'.

Does make me laugh that City can steamroller people now and everyone's so blasé about it, though. They're like the Harlem Globetrotters, it's fantasy football, so they fucking should cane everyone, and more widely people seem to be treating it as such.

The anger we get from other fans is so obviously jealousy that the club has done things in the right way and they're clutching at reasons to have an issue. Diving is just the latest thing in a long line of 'yeah buts'

Sane back on sub's bench last night, 2 weeks after an expected 6/7 week recovery.

After watching the higlights, it seems that in the opening stages we were just a bit naive against a very tactical and very clever European giant. Once we settled down, learned to keep our composure and play our game we clearly grew into it. Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Lamela and Dembele proved their big game metal (again), and that they have the ability and talent to take a game to the very best. Lamela is such a good player at this level, like he just belongs there... but for me I hope Dele proved to himself, not us, what he is truly capable of when he's playing with confidence and resolve, because for me he was excellent.

Quietly confident for the return leg now.

Some of the press and especially the Italian press seemed to think that Juve fell back after they went two up and let us get the advantage but I'm just watching it back again now and they didn't, they kept playing the same way but gradually got forced back, to be honest I remembered it that way but thought I may have been biased, I wasn't!
In the final analysis it wasn't strictly the result it was the way we got it, had we only made 2-1 it would have been worse for the tie but it wouldn't have diminished our performance.

Been thinking about why Poch didn’t sub Aurier and of course in the end all was OK. Maybe we give him credit for knowing how to handle the player and trusting him. It strikes me that Poch does trust players who work, train and play for the team. Part of that is not over reacting to mistakes but seeing that as part of a players development. The best teams have players willing to try things others will not and if we just have players thinking safety first all we will get is a sterile side passing sideways so they don’t make mistakes. Pep certainly seems to do similar with his players.
Anyway after a very poor start Davies played a decent game; remember he was excellent against Arsenal. Aurier managed to stay on the pitch and maybe learnt more than if he had been pulled off

Was saying at the weekend during the NLD that Poch had done brilliantly bringing on Lamella rather than Lucas.

Many managers would have thrown the shiny new signing into the match but Poch in that moment has shown him and the rest of the squad that you need to earn your place while still showing faith in Lamella who could have easily seen himself as 3rd/4th choice AM if Lucas had come on / started in Turin.
